Hey all,
Just wanted to share this exciting news with you! I've been working on storyboarding a new animation series called Checkered Cabinet. It's based on a group of quirky characters that work together in a convenience store called the Checkered Cabinet. Hilarity and shenanigans ensue and I'll save all the details for the first animation. The basic storyboard is completed and I'm working on ironing out and rigging all the 2d characters. Here is one that I just finished in Illustrator today.
She originally looked like this when I first sketched her on the old iPad Pro.
I still have a few details to add to the new girl's outfit and I may make some slight adjustments to her features as well. However, it felt like a good time to step back and appreciate the creation.
Let me know what you guys think of her, and any suggestions you have to the character creation or name (she still needs a name). I'm fairly new to drawing for animations, so this has been a little bit of a learning experience for me. Next will be rigging with the pin tool and using the After Effects add-on DUIK. Duik helps to add in a bone-like structure to the rig points and that along with a nesting hierarchy should make animating a cinch! Fingers crossed.
I'm looking to have a second character all vectored and ready for rigging by tomorrow. So keep a look out if you're interested in the animation process. I'm going to be documenting my steps, and eventually releasing the first episode on dtube.
