Arts and Crafts are like my stress reliever. I knew that arts are wide and no limitations. I used to draw using pencil and ballpen but I've never been tried to use paints or any water based colors. It feels like it was not my forte. Watching someone who used paints on their art were all awesome. I fear to used even water colors that my nephew's owned. I told them that I don't know how to use those stuff.
Yesterday while browsing in the internet, I remember that coffee can be use for paintings. I looked for some samples and I am amazed of their work. Some are really nice and knowing that they can use coffee for their art was impressive. Since I haven't tried it yet, I decided to make a very cute canvass using a thick plain folder.
Aside from that I made a DIY or recycled photo frame using an old branch of tree. Today I allow me to share my exciting adventure and how it went little by little. Here are the things that I used:
For the DIY Frame
Old tree branches
Knot or thin rope
For the Canvass and Painting
Thick plain folder
Instant Black Coffee
Water
Thin brush
Here's what I did:
For the DIY Frame
I wash the branches and let it dry. I cut them into four pieces and simply align them to see what they will look together.
I use a thin knot to tie it together. You can substitute it with thin rope or yarn.
I make sure that it's quite secure and tie it several times.
I add excess tie on top so I can simply hang it.
For the Coffee Painting
I cut folder into small square. I don't use any scale for this it will just depend on the length and how wide was your frame.
Now I start to paint my canvass. I use only 1 brush for my entire painting. It's make up brush that I don't use anymore.
I put a teaspoon of black instant coffee and divide it into two. The first mix I dilute it into water and stir it till completely dissolve.
I reserve the other half so I can have bolder hue. At this point my hand decides to draw this hole and the process takes only 15 minutes.
I paint the branches with the remaining coffee mix and allow to dry both of them.
I put an additional knot like this in the middle where I'm gonna put my mini painting and add some tape to secure.
Sharing my Personal Experience
The method of painting are one of my most hated or should I say I fear to try it ever since. It's feels that blending the water and the paint was too hard to apply and blends. I have no idea how it works and how my hand will move while doing it. Though this paint of mine won't impress everyone, I will definetly cherished this experience.
If you're gonna ask me if I'm going to do it again? Of course it's a yes! Look at my face lol :) Will be back soon and share my future creation using coffee as my paint. The coffee simply gives a nostalgic look that I loved. How about you, have you tried to paint using coffee? Anyways, thanks for reading my story today. Keep safe and have a good day! ❤
