1999 is a Prince song from his album released in 1982. Prince premiered 1999 around the main riff of the Monday, Monday song from The Mamas & the Papas. The song was re-recorded at the end of 1998 with The New Power Generation group, reusing parts of the original recording, and was released the following year under the name 1999: The New Master .
