Hey Steemians, this is my second entry for Open Mic Week 40. It's a version of my original song Spanish Armada Blues from my live album, Artefacts of Desire which you can find on Bandcamp for free or pay what you think it's worth. Lyrics below. Thanks for listening.
Spanish Armada Blues
The sky is so deep that today I could just drown in it
Your eyes are so dark like two sheep staring into a pit
I'll read you a story but fear that my mission is true
Don't tell me my hands are too tight as my knuckles turn blue
In the dawn of the day when you rose with the wind
and you sank like the tides as the darkness begins
We still can't recall all the nights that we sinned
We'll weather all storms that the storm bringer brings
You saw me go down in a ship that long followed the mist
The way that you sigh and you shake I just cannot resist
The night is so cruel it suffers no heroes to plot
Their daggers lie twisted, their tunnels caught up in a knot
In the dawn of the day when you rose with the wind
and you sank like the tides as the darkness begins
We still can't recall all the nights that we sinned
We'll weather all storms that the storm bringer brings
If you enjoyed this post, please resteem it to your followers. It's free and I'd be forever in your dept.
My previous entry to Open Mic Week 40 was a cover of one of my favourite Billy Bragg tunes Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key, in which he set the lyrics of Woody Guthrie to music. If you liked this post, check it out:
