Hello Steemers Its Chef Dan Again Here with a lil’ article on my take on technology in the modern kitchen. And it’s overall effect on the entire society and world of cuisine historically and in the future.
I spoke last week about reviewing a new product that hit the market called the Frigondas that combines blast freezing/ Chilling technology and microwave cooking technology into one unit the size of a traditional microwave unit we are familiar with today.
I’ve always had a microwave growing up and it seems to me everyone has adopted the lil guy into their lives since its inception just because it exists, does a relatively good job and delivers on the promises it sells, this new addition of functionality is welcomed and also useful it will be as popular as it’s great uncle the radarange, and cousin microwave, it’s a great product we use it to save time and space make use of it to hasten the process which we use to eat and shorten the experience we are all starving for and a need we all have, the daily nutrition and enjoyment of food. It is quite a remarkable invention and it isn’t only used for making food while you binge watch Hulu it may have revolutionized the world or it could be its undoing one day.

Back To The Future
Much like our obsession with technology and recklessly fast forwarding everything to the future before its time. This invention that was before its time and one of the best of our time may the one to ultimately undo time itself. By reversing eons of culinary evolution to a mere panel of buttons accessed by the simplest of minds and made by our most complex. Erasing natural nutrition and forcing us to become a more synthetic society everyday.

This revolutionary technology is the answer to bending time and space in the kitchen, and has changed the course of what we eat, how we eat it, what it’s packaged in: size, shape, or material wise and contributes to countless dollars wasted on marketing and research fitting the world of cuisine into some sort of magic machine.

It has not only changed How we cook forever it has also robbed the little nutrition left in foods today which are already depleted and leached out by so many different other factors its mind boggling. I won’t even go into the compromises in quality and consistency.
Cutting corners in time and size, in addition to freezing, thawing, and other unnecessary and costly processes your so called food has become more like feed after all. And your nothing more than a pet to the companies peddling it on every shelf like so much dog and cat food for us to rely on to live.
Sick YET?
Food has had to conform to short cooking processes sometimes half prepared and in facilities on a large scale opening up the product to a world of insane possibilities of it becoming contaminated or compromised in some way. This is an increase in the process which is so familiarly called the cause of many food related digestive and other sicknesses this is now an epidemic destroying the culinary world as we know it.
You Will be Sick To Death Of IT!
Processed food is not going to kill you fast most likely it will take a long hard time of ups and downs in your relationship with it, when your low on cash and time you reach for the worst thing for you and say just this time then you get used to it. You know it’s not good for you, you know somewhere deep down inside you can’t even figure out what made you think this microwave burrito or hot pocket was acceptable in the first place surely you’ve had an actual sandwich or perhaps a real burrito without 3rd degree bean burns.
After you gain a pound or ten from being bloated and sick go up a few waste sizes and loose a few teeth with a bad acid reflux or acne problem you might see the folly of your ways but probably not, that bean burrito is cheap and easy and your lips are like asbestos by now it’s do or die your getting some Fritos also lets make it a Frito burrito they go together like bread and butter right?

Not Funny Is IT? But ITS CUTE!
My point is tho, I’m being comical this is serious we have let ourselves come to rely on this machine so much the entire industry is marketed around it and it robs the world of the most useful invention to date in culinary history……FIRE!
Other countries we say are third world are even more advanced and more capable in some ways we here on American soil are not and I don’t mean everyone but there are enough to worry about trust me, it’s becoming an epidemic, families not providing proper nutrition to their children and selves wasting tax dollars on buying over processed low quality compromised subpar products and marketed items sold to children based on characters and not on content.
I’m also a victim nobody is perfect
I bought a gross puffed corn cheeto like product the other day based on it being a star wars thing cause it looked cool, I spent four dollars on shit, and wasted it all because I was duped.
I’m not saying don’t have a microwave or to eat Fritos but if it’s your entire lifestyle and if It is now your child’s go to after school snack we have a problem. Please come to your senses, kids need some nutrition to grow their minds pumping them full of fruits in syrup and processed grains is not doing the trick. Marketing is NOT realistic and cannot be used to shape our lives.
Make America Sane Again!!
Getting them and everyone engaged in cooking in a family setting making a variety of foods from a variety of sources is not only a learning and spiritual process it is the only process that yields nutrition for you and your family on so many levels.
I urge you teach them and always be open to learning new things and trying new ideas in the kitchen don’t put our collective progress out to pasture, its in our hands. Try instead of buy! Buy Whole foods! Prepare your own food!! Portion it yourself!! It’s safer and more cost effective and you can engage in family time and create a space for togetherness and health. These Days most mental issues and all the current popular diseases can be mostly attributed to lack of nutrition and its mostly due to ignorance not availability and education is not readily available on the shelf at the store.
To Infinity and Beyond..
Imagine we ARE’NT a society WITHOUT food in the future and aren’t living off of some sludge or bars made of crickets or some ridiculous sci fi suggested synthetic reality made popular in movies or books..
As some of these predictions come true from these sci fi thrillers and become reality good or bad, this I believe will as well and we will be the cause of it.
We Pressed the Button
Our over commercialization, processing and paying of rising expensive costs of importation of out of season foods to remote regions will cause the downfall of the entire food industry. Trust me. It’s happening now. RIGHT NOW>
And after all of that you can probably trace the entire thing back to: NOT the invention of the microwave technology, or any technology in fact, but the MISUSE of it, and our inability to live without it as a society. It is our fault for becoming complacent, comfortable, and even worse we accept it.

As we add things to this list ie..Cars, escalators, elevators and other convenience based technologies which enhance our lives in such a profound manner, our natural abilities are jeopardized in the process over time skills forgotten, muscle memories, training and acuity, senses dulled and evolved out of our genome. Unfortunate but slowly it will silently eradicate them completely one day..instinct and long embedded natural inherited genealogical information changed forever down to your DNA.
Choose your food, care about how its cooked, and prepare it with love don’t waste time on cutting corners you just might be cutting off your life line.
