Hello to all and to all a Hello. This above photo is the one that started the below picture train. Takes much longer to complete than to describe an scroll through. This above cutting/serving board was built for @dandays, he has two actually which it just so happens are not rarely endangered anymore but now just endangered, but I will get to that.
This evolution is a month an then some in the making. @dandays flashed that picture of his board an bang, get to work Jr.
Some of my hours are built and lost in the brain storm. Making functional art is difficult. Lofty goals I know, but that's part of not being in the box, or having to build the box that better suits you. Another door my toe snuck into and my ass is looking for the window.
" Not all of them are homeruns"
😉
I don't always hit the mark, sports were never much my interest either. I still participated but not for the love of a game.
Mostly so that I could learn and experience adversity, and either fail or triumph. Both are outcomes that any one person can have, but how we move on from failure is a better lesson then that of triumph. A successful failure knows no limits.
These boards are from a salvaged old yacht, was dry docked and instead of being sold the gentleman just took it apart board by board that started some time it the early 90's. Mostly mahogany and maple, with a dash of zebra wood there. I'm sure they will be loved and used on the regular, for that I am thankful. Only one side can be used to cut any sort of protein, it is food safe epoxy/FDA approved for food surface but still, I do not recommend meat on the epoxy fill area.
