Trempealeau Mountain...home to cave paintings of thunderbirds, nearby earthworks that look like pyramids, and, last but not least, an alleged cryptid creature reported to look like the infamous Mothman of West Virginia (and currently seen often in Chicago, IL). The "mountain" exists on the mighty Mississippi River, nestled between Wisconsin and Minnesota in an area called the "Driftless Region." The Driftless is considered to be one of the oldest, geographical areas in the world, as it was alleged to have missed the massive, topographical destruction created from the glacial advances of antiquity.
Fortunately for me, I live nearby; the photo taken above was from this past weekend on an excursion to Winona, MN. I sense an upcoming post with details and photos - more to come!
