So from what I understand this one of the ways they communicate, basically the way a demon would (ding!). Here I'm guessing they used a homeless person or something to that extent to talk about how worthless humans are to them. If it were me there I would have said "Well. That's unfortunate. Now go lay on a warm rock or whatever it is lizards do."
