It's about looking at things objectively, away from your current feelings and emotions. When you have a bad experience, you can step away from yourself and be aware of your reaction. You can also become aware of your breathing. You can notice the world going on around you as if nothing was happening.
I began to realize that I no longer cared about the little things. I was able to catch myself having an emotional response, so before I got heated, I asked myself, "Why am I feeling this way?" This one question allowed me to quickly shift my emotional state and return to a more neutral state.
I feel less stressed and sleep better. I used to come home after an anxious 11-hour shift the next day. However, long after meditation became a part of my life, what I was beginning to notice was that I would instead go home and enjoy the few hours before bed.

During his time off, he was more immersed in what he was doing, away from work, and his stress levels dropped significantly.

Also, I was starting to be in the best shape of my life. Cortisol is an interesting hormone that your body releases when you are under chronic stress. Stimulates fat and carbohydrate metabolism for an energy boost.
Higher energy levels lead to increased appetite, and increased appetite leads to increased weight gain.
By learning to release some of the stress I had, I was able to better regulate my cortisol levels and started losing more body fat.Combine this with regular and consistent exercise. And it's a great recipe for staying in peak physical condition.
