The Sound Movement found it's start as one dancer's dream to unify all performers in our industry. With the main goals being to bring passion and connection back to the stage, he set out to tear down the walls that competing companies, collectives, and crews had put up. With those walls removed, so was the sense of exclusion that so many performers feel today and thus the community and our movement was born.
The movement is above all else about passion. We aim to push one another deeper creatively and to help one another to create more opportunities to shine.
Our community consists of an incredibly diverse group of performers, you can expect to see a wide range of flow artistry, movers and characters.
Everything from:
- Hoops/Staves
- Poi
- Fans
- Characters
- Fiber Optic Whips
- Pyro/Fire props
- Movers (poppers, lockers, you name it!)
But that's not all! Sound Movement community members pride themselves most on having as much of a presence off the stage as on. Like conduits of energy, you can always expect to find one of us in the crowd next to you or roaming around the dance floor. We want you to feel that we're present, with you in the moment, and that you're always welcome to share your energy and be vulnerable alongside us.
We're always looking to build our community - So if you know an incredibly passionate performer, crew or collective or maybe even somebody that's incredibly talented but has no experience performing, feel free to invite them to our COMMUNITY page.
