Time Flies!
Seems like yesterday I last updated you on these guys, when they had just got home - see this post for more about how they came about, and the weeks leading up to them moving in.
Still they came home only recently, a few weeks. Yet they've had quite a bit of fun in almost an entire month. Time to go over some of the best moments, share the best shots, and talk about how they're getting settled into life with me here.
They arrived in the carry case with mesh windows I procured beforehand from the local pet store. I let them stay in there for the first couple of hours, before letting them have the first exploratory walk around the house. Comparing those first dainty steps which to them were like walking on the moon - it's a very different story 4 weeks later! Now they can dart and fly around the room at an astonishing rate. They like to throw things around as much as possible - anything that can be made to move is a toy and fair game.
This post will be a photo essay, exclusively on peakd/hive.blog all about the 2 little bundles of cute fur / apex predators that I have introduced into my life. On with the roundup, and how much they've changed my day to day schedules!
Freeze! Put your hands up!
Freeze framing some video shots enabled me to capture some hilarious poses and postures
Jet is the black one, a girl. Here she is mid-pounce catching a small elephant.
And here is her brother Bat, both in mid-flight, during a game of 'capture the flag' on Fort Kittydale (constructed entirely of beer boxes and duct tape).
I'm continuing to build this fortress for them to play in. Need to expand the base next so it can get higher. I've cut holes throughout for passageways, and they love to play in it.
When they rest, they can be really loving and cute. Brother and sister. Irresistibly affectionate when they're in the mood.
Jet's Mercedes-Benz, she gets quite possessive about this one particular car!
Bat in a 'freeze frame' whilst playing in the fortress
Cat-grass helps maintain good digestion and deal with hairballs. Cats naturally seek out a little bit of grass here and now.
One evening I asked for a photo, and this is what Jet did, sat up and placed her arm in this regal fashion on her brothers shoulder. I could not make it up!! They have grown a lot already, this was not long after they arrived home.
He likes to sometimes wedge himself against me vertically in my office chair, often when I'm writing a HIVE.blog post!
Both of them love to come for cuddles at least a couple times every day, even after they've been fed.
Falling asleep on my lap, or more like one third each lap/chair/abyss that is the floor under the desk ... yet stable as mountaineers.
Still small and not long after arrival, Jet attacks a facemask hanging from my lamp. She looks a little like a Gremlin at this point!
Won't be this small and cute forever ...
Peek-a-bo! Wedgie position ...the boy is in the main the more affectionate one, common among male cats. Boy cats are the best companions if you only have one.
Jet pulls faces during a belly-rub. When cats are giving up their belly to you like this, you're doing something right. They know it is the most vulnerable part of their body, by showing it, they are deliberately showing you trust.
Zonked out by 5 mins of stroking
He really is getting a little longer than a pen ... now about 19-20inches fully extended. Can still curl up into a little ball.
Lazada special, cat tent=$15. They can be safe and get used to the wind and noises of outside in the garden. I can give them a lot of stimulation, whilst chilling in the garden with my coffee, work on the laptop without having to watch them EVERY BLOODY SECOND hahaha
Fort Kittydale had humble origins, the first box! Other boxes were donated from local bars where I have an cold one.
Sometimes I call her Monkey, this shot demonstrates why. Jet is a bit of a contortionist. Bat looks on, as always.
CLAWS
Again, Monkey shows off her Kung-Fu skills and best Wolverine impersonation. Those claws are now clipped back (just a little, so they're no more dangerous, but kitty can still utilize them, it's cruel to de-claw and they have sensitive nerve endings at the cuticles, so you should only ever take off the sharp tips. This way, they can walk, climb, be confident in defending themselves as nature intended. Then you also won't get massacred this way.), every 10-15 days.
Bat 'taps out' from this MMA round.
Again the above images were caught by going frame-by-frame on paused video clips, then screenshot made to catch these most insane split second expressions.
Don't you think I'm cute?
Which is your favorite?
Snuggles and a bit of help grooming the parts that we can't reach by ourselves.
My office chair makes for a pretty cool studio effect backdrop! Improvising is key, I love this shot as it captures them only a week after they moved in my home.
Out in the tent, it's like an IMAX cinema for them. They will be allowed out alone eventually, after about 5 months of age. Now still just under 3 months.
Jet stretches out in my arm.
They're getting proper professional medical care, vaccines, flea/tick, de-worming all by local government backed animal care clinics (vets). A check-up is just 100thb or about $3usd. Treatments range from $5-$15, it was under $50 so far for ALL: registered, checked, weighed (twice), 1st de-worm, 1st de-flea/tick (12wk protection), first vaccine shot, PLUS for Bat having a fever.
Intensely watching a bird which is oblivious to them from here.
Although, they do sometimes want to escape, Jet being the most ambitious on this front, sometimes leaping at the net however the whole tent netting is very light and loose enough to just catch her like a trampoline or baseball mitt. It's quite a good design, it's better it is loose and moves with impacts.
I could publish a hundred more pictures, and I've a hundred more video clips which need to go onto various social media channels. They managed over 7000 TikTok views in just a few days recently!
If you are so inclined for more of Bat and Jet, and to be an immense help - please give a follow and a like or 2 if you're on the mainstream social media channels Instagram, TikTok, Twitter: They're handle is @BatJetSiam across all of these. Right now they feature also on newtonclassics.co.uk and YouTube NewtonClassics for video also, maybe in future they're going to be the real CryptoKitties!
Thanks for reading, voting, following! More kitty content coming soon :)
