I am an advocate of species appropriate diets for our animal companions. Dogs and cats are carnivores and kibble is not a substitute for real food. It may be unthinkable to many bit in a few days I will share what my cat taught me about species appropriate diet based on what happened to her.
Kibble and wet canned food (expensive or not) is made with contaminated by products of the food industry. Reminants of:-
Slaughter
Road kill
Euthanased animals; and
Horse meat.
have been found in manufactured pet food. As you know I have been writing quite a bit about why you and now your pets should stay away from horse meat. You are being drugged and so are your animals. Horses are the most drugged animals on the planet and many that go to slaughter are pumped with drugs when they were either:-On the race course (but were too slow, broke a leg and had to be killed). Drugged to perform.
Old and no longer useful costing too much for drugs needed to keep them comfortable.
Younger horses including foals (yes foals) who inevitably would have had some drug because its use is so pervasive in the industry.
Pregnant mares (yes they have not had their babies) who are dumped at auction end up at slaughter because breeders dont have any more funds. Many foals are born at the feedlot separated from their mothers, left to die or sent to slaughter also). Inevitably these horses will have been exposed to some kind of drug or other in their handling by humans.
So now do you see how this affects the rest of the food chain? You and your animal companion included?
The following link you will find a lawsuit related to dogs being poisoned and one dying from horse meat in their commercial food. ....
