A city in Australia recently experienced a very strange but real event, millions of small spiders fell from the sky like rain.
And the incident happened earlier this month, in the town of Goulburn, which is in the southern region of Tablelands, Australia.
And people's houses are covered with spider webs and they control every inch of the city like the plague.
"I am about 10 minutes from the city, and you can see clearly hundreds of small spiders flying together with their nets, and my house is covered in these webs. Someone must call a scientist, to be able to immediately know what this really is"
In the scientific realm it is a natural phenomenon called rain spider or angel hair. This is actually the process of moving spiders called 'balloons'.
"Ballooning is a rare behavior from many spiders," said arachnologist retired Rick Vetter. "They climb a few high areas and point their butt into the air and shoot nets. And this is what happens around us all the time. We just don't realize it."
"And what happens in Tablelands is that groups of spiders are ready to do it, but whatever the reason, the weather conditions are not optimal and it is not possible for them to do that. But then the weather changes, and they have the right conditions to do balloon, and they all started doing it. " said biology professor Todd Blackledge of Akron University in Ohio, United States (US).
And hopefully what the experts say is true. Hopefully useful, and concern us all.
