Four days ago, I started sharing a steemit post in a Facebook page I initially created to promote Genesis-Mining. That post has now been seen by 1,632 people.

This post was created to encourage new sign-ups. This will be shared in multiple platforms and will also be referred to when talking to friends about steemit. Getting people to sign up I feel is the easy part, the more difficult task is making them stay. A big percentage of new sign ups become inactive just after a few posts. This will cover why it is important to survive the first few boring and mundane days/weeks in the platform. Before that though, let's talk about what steemit is, here is a really good introduction to the platform from our friend in the growing Filipino community to start you up with:
Ang 'Starter Pack' ni Juan Steemian by @dreamiely
It is important to note that we are able to pay our bills with or without steemit, and that we did not come here for the quick bucks. We have in fact made purchases of steem power with both our earnings from the platform and our own money. We haven't powered down since we started, and we do not plan to do so any time soon. Here is a post from our friend that will help you in powering up or buying steem power:
Power-up Juan Steemian! by @dreamiely
The tittle should have said "How 30 Days in Steemit Could Have Paid for Our Bills" because it did not, and we used the earnings to power up as I imagine we will continue doing so for a long time. It could have though, here is how:

The first couple of weeks may be best described as frustrating; you put your heart into research, taking the best pictures, writing the best way you can, proof-reading, and editing your post a few times before finally hitting the post button. You will see in the chart above that my first two weeks were worth less than a dollar a day. You would be wrong though, in those two weeks I was learning how the platform works, connecting to the community, making friends, and improving my writing skills. Unless you are an experienced blogger, vlogger, or have a celebrity status in social media, I suggest you do the same in your first 2-3 weeks.
The sum of what my posts earned in 4 weeks is about $80 (4,000.00 PHP), some $18 of that though will go to the Cribs Foundation in a planned event in the middle of September. I am due to post about another charity event last year, in hope to get a little more funding for the Cribs event. My Smart phone bill gets to about 3,000.00 PHP a month which is almost exactly what I made in steemit outside of the money that will go to the September charity event.
My wife @dadalion created a post yesterday about our newly found restaurant in the City of Malolos, and the post made $22 (1,100.00 PHP) which in effect paid for our dinner.
So sign-up, learn, make friends, and earn for your dinner or your phone bill.
