: That's a wicked cool doodle art, dude. Really awesome!
: Thanks. Cos of that I'll give you my $.001 upvote.
: Lol... But just wondering, have you ever wanted to create a game?
For brevity, I cut off lots of random stuff from the conversation. But that's basically how this new project started. Just from a random discord conversation with random wild ideas thrown. I kept saying random just to lower your expectations lol (we'll reserve the hyping on the 3rd or 4th post).
At the team's core are just a bunch of enthusiasts wanting to try their hand at game development just for the love of gaming. We're on Steemit where great things happen or ... fail in epic proportions. With some technical mastery mixed in, here's hoping that collective passion delivers something great.
The Team Name
: Slave Kitties?
: How about no? We'll get flooded with NSFW comments lol.
: Nautilus?
: Sounds good but how about something pinoy-ish?
For Filipinos, they'd surely get what "takipsilim" means and that the team's from the Philippines. We've went through many suggested names but settled on @takipsilim which means twilight to match the dark-themed game we are trying to make. (God forbid we get associated with the book/movie). And I've been fussy about numerology and this one hits a favorable name count.
The Art
: Is Don't Starve graphics feasible? Digging the art style there.
: Oohh, Don't Starve. I love that game.
Hurrah for Don't Starve! It is a survival, rouge-like game in a Tim Burton-esque world. And it is quite well loved too; just check out the rave reviews at Steam.
I wish we could do something like Don't Starve but the scale is just impossibly massive. That may be the case, we can still aim for the art and feel. @adamada, one of our artists, make brilliant and quirkily dark art that's a cross between Lovecraft and children's fairy tales.
We also got another artist in the house - @kothy. Her art is just as great but less dark and more cuddles. She's also the shining beacon of the team that inspires creativity and hard work. Kothy is life.
This is one of our environment variants with a doodle character in the middle. As you may have guessed, we're still quite fluid with the style we want.
The Gameplay
: This is the angle I'm trying to envision for the game. The player does everything right to survive the game but accomplishing the ending is unsatisfying because no matter how much effort you put into winning the game, you can't solve the story and it's still a mystery ... The very existence of the player in the game world matters to none.
: That sounds fun!
... And quite intense. I dig crazy, despair-filled games too but I'm pitching the idea of a 10% possibility among the multiple endings that will give players a satisfyingly "good ending".
This is not my first foray into game development but it's the first time I'll be diving into indie dev. We're still finalizing on what route to take (if it wasn't obvious by now, the game planning is still in the early stages), so we'll be exploring the development process along with you guys.

Where we are right now
We got our core goals, ideas and concepts written down. But as with all projects, nothing is absolute. We're still learning as we go and ready to adapt to whatever comes.
The original plan was to create a survival game that woud run on PC. But we figured that the scope would be too big for a starting goal, thus we would first try our hand on creating a discord version of the game. This would allow us to focus on the gameplay logic first before going full force on a PC game.
So that's about it. Please join us in the development by following this account and sending some love in the comments section. Hope we could all build something together as a community here on Steemit. See you around! Mabuhay Po!
