I was talking to my wife about this the other day - that there's always a sacrifice or a cost to be made, for everything that we want. She was comparing the stage of life she is at compared to others in her life, and I was trying to make the point that every decision we make has consequences, and eventually a cost. So if we do want that promotion at work, we work harder, which has a cost to our family time or lifestyle. If we want to spend quality time with our kids, maybe that has a cost to our career, or our physical health. Going on that overseas trip has a cost to our retirement savings. We make decision based on the best information we have at hand, but everything comes at a cost.
At the end of the day, it's all about priorities.
