I found some silver for my secret santa recipient! Finally!! I've been shopping for just the right thing but was coming up empty so it feels good to find something that fits so well. I did have a piece from my stack picked out just in case I could not find the right thing online but last night eBay did me right.
Top item on my travel bucket list is a trip to the Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa, ON, Canada :D
The canal itself is a historic waterway in Ontario, Canada, connecting Ottawa to the city of Kingston on Lake Ontario. It was opened in 1832 and is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America. In winter, when it freezes, a portion of the canal is opened for skating. The skate-way winds over 7.8 km through the heart of Canada's Capital city. The skating season varies due to weather but it is usually opened for skating from mid-January through February. I don't know yet if I can make it out there this winter but I'm saying it to help make it happen!
Last item for today #randomthoughts post is rocks! I love rocks and rockhounding and have been getting the itch to hit some of the local rockhounding sites in my area. It's not the season to hit the trail but I'll be gathering info (not easy, rockhounds trust no one and rarely share info on good spots), and planning over the winter and hope to hit some of the more plentiful gem and mineral sites next spring.
From left to right we have: a weird creature one of my kids got me for my birthday a few years ago, a small slice of a meteorite, a polished slice of some kind of round orange rock, three small crystals, a rock with azurite and malachite, a piece of galena, the natural mineral form of lead, and an actual crystal ball (I have not seen the future in it....yet!)
I don't know how I got through this post without coffee, so it's time to brew a pot...cheers! ☕️💥☕️
