Breakthrough Listen is a project that we have already talked about in this blog, integrated into the University of Berkeley in California and forming part of the search program for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) this is a project endowed with 100 million dollars of financing and thousands of hours in state-of-the-art telescopes.
Breakthrough Listen es un proyecto del que ya hemos hablado en este blog, integrado en la Universidad de Berkeley en California y formando parte del programa de búsqueda de inteligencia extraterrestre (SETI) este es un proyecto dotado de 100 millones de dólares de financiación y miles de horas en los telescopios de última generación.
Since it was put into operation in 2016, this project has detected innumerable suspicious radio signals of unknown origin, but of all of them their extraterrestrial origin was discarded when discovering their origin in terrestrial facilities, aviation radars and telephone towers, but this case was what interesting enough to investigate further.
Desde que se puso en funcionamiento en 2016 este proyecto ha detectado innumerables señales de radio sospechosas de origen desconocido pero de todas ellas se fue descartando su origen extraterrestre al descubrir su origen en instalaciones terrestres, radares de aviación y torres de telefonía pero este caso era lo suficientemente interesante como para investigar más a fondo.

The signal was detected in 2019 with the 64-meter Parkes Murriyang radio telescope located in Australia and seemed to come from the star Alpha Centauri, they especially liked this not only because Alpha Centauri is the closest star to Earth but also has a planet in its habitable zone, for that reason almost a year was dedicated in the investigation.
Las señal fue detectada en 2019 con el radiotelescopio de 64 metros Parkes Murriyang ubicado en Australia y parecía provenir de la estrella Alfa Centauri, esto les gustó especialmente no solo porque Alpha Centauri es la estrella más cercana a la Tierra sino que además posee un planeta en su zona habitable,por eso se dedicó casi un año en la investigación.
Curiously, the signal was discovered by university student Shane Smith, a fellow of the project, while studying the flares of the star he came across a signal with the necessary characteristics with a duration of 5 hours, information that he shared with his supervisor.

In view of this, in 2020 and 2021 an attempt was made to detect the signal again but without success, after studying the original data and to the annoyance of lovers of the alien world it was discovered that it could be a failure in one of the electronic devices that are part of the structure of the project.
En vista de esto en 2020 y 2021 se intentó volver a detectar la señal pero sin éxito, tras estudiar los datos originales y para disgusto de los amantes del mundo alienígena se descubrió que podría ser un fallo en uno de los aparatos electrónicos que forman parte de la estructura del proyecto.
So, once again, our attempts to find some extraterrestrial civilization have been frustrated, which, honestly, I am glad of and I think that we should concentrate our efforts on finding intelligent life on Earth that there is less and less.
Así que, una vez más, se han frustrado nuestros intentos de encontrar alguna civilización extraterrestre cosa de la que, honestamente, me alegro y creo que deberíamos concentrar nuestros esfuerzos en encontrar vida inteligente en la Tierra que cada vez hay menos.
