I saw an announcement on the Platforms Discord server looking for writers who would get paid for their work. I thought it was interesting and sent a DM to @jglake to tell him that I was and immediately he added me to the Writing Team Channel. No questions asked. I signed up on Hack.io and found my way around for a bit. We had a bit on conversation over Hack.io and how we would or could work as a writing team. The conversation spread over a few hours because we were in different time zones. Initially I thought that I would be writing for Platforms on my blog, but this was not so. They needed someone to write for their blog.
Hack.io allows many persons to work on a document at the same time. You can see live changes as they are happening and you can see who is making the change. This cloud app also keeps a version history and records who made the last change and when the last change occurred.
After two days of joining the Writing Channel, it was a holiday; March 14 - Hero's day in St.Vincent. On that day, I joined my sister on a bus tour to some memorable/recreational sites on the island. On returning, I sat down to starting writing my first post. It's the one on A Full Explanation On Platform's Earnings And How We Distribute Earnings.
Since I was new to the group, I didn't know much about it and so I did a bit of reading to understand what Platforms was and what they were about, in particular to understand how the payout structure worked. I went back and forth with the Leadership team asking many questions to clear up everything in my mind. The post was already started. I don't remember starting it from scratch. I read through it and added some sections that I thought would make the post somewhat more complete. I tried to be clear and precise with what I was trying to say.
When I got back to the team with what I had completed, they were quick in responding and was very pleased with what I had done. In no time the post was live.
And just like that I became an official writer for Platforms.
