THE GAME ITSELF
Splinterlands is a PLAY TO EARN, trading card game, auto battler that re-imagines how trading card games are played out. Compared to the traditional turn based strategy, splinterlands takes it to the next level by making itself an auto battler game, this on face value seems weird but this adds an extra layer of strategy which not only makes the game more exciting, but also makes it a game where you do not have to spend half an hour playing a single match.
The mechanics of the game is simple, you compose a team of 1 Summoner, and 6 or less monsters. You can arrange them in anyway you want but, you will have Rule Sets that you need to abide. These Rulesets are what makes every match in splinterlands a unique experience, as usually, Rules sets will not repeat and there will always be a difference in each match even if it's just subtle.
Each game will assure you that you will need to think on your feet as there is a ticking clock that ever so slowly counts down to the start of the match whether you are ready or not.
Once you and your opponent are ready you hit the BATTLE button to get the match started! The match will then proceed and the auto battle will start after you hit RUMBLE.
The AI will the proceed to play the battle, there is so much strategy involved here as different factors like, Speed (Blue Circle), Damage (target/saw icon), Health (Red Heart), and the different abilities of each monsters comes into play. One single factor could mean you losing the match or you dominating your opponent.
And at the end of the road if you do win against the opponent, you will be greeted by the game, and will receive your sweet sweet reward!
The game also offers you a DAILY QUEST where you complete set challenges ranging from winning matches using certain SPLINTERS(Elements) or winning using a specific ability of a card. The journey maybe rough as it will be difficult to spam a certain line up or element, but at the end of the road you will receive your due reward, and here, those who are loved by the gods of RNG receive their bountiful harvest.
DEVELOPMENT TEAM
This awesome game would have not been successful if it weren't for the "Wizards" that poured their heart and soul into crafting the game. The two original founders are Dr. Jesse "Aggroed" Reich and Matthew "Yabapmatt" Rosen. Their project started during 2018, with little community and few resources to their names, they did their best and persevered through the difficulties of the early years.

These two are the ones that started it all, but the reason for success is not only because of their effort. They have employed talented people who have the same passion as gaming and game creation as them, artists who's wildest imagination are brought to life through the cards, lore masters who's words shape the very lands itself and the community who are not just onlookers from the void but are architects who builds the world.
The Partners
Splinterlands has grown in an astronomical scale, they have partnered with tons of gaming communities, gaming companies and other related institutions who have acknowledged the growth of splinterlands.
One such community is the well known Zensports, they have been regularly partnering with splinterlands and have been creating tournaments that has prize pool over the thousands!
They have also expanded their reach by trying to make their coins more available, this was done by partnering with different swaps, markets and other online platforms where players can swap their crypto and get the token that can be used in game.
The Community
One of the best aspects of splinterlands is how good its community is, one can even argue that out of all the crypto games, splinterlands has far the best communities, how can I say this? The proof is simple, almost everyday people are giving away free stuff in splinterlands!
Events like, lore trivia, what's this card, riddle me this, and other really interesting events are common in the splinterlands community discord, tons of prizes are given out to those who do well enough and some are even very kind as to let all those who participated win. I'm not just talking about small prizes that are a dollar or so, there have been instances that a member of the community has given away $100 worth of token and cards!
To add a cherry on top, streamers does tons of giveaways too! One streamer even gave away $3000 worth of assets! Though not maybe all, streamers are very active in the community, they mingle with people in general chat and have fun with the community they promote.
But, the thing that appeals most is the fact that the people in splinterlands are very kind, of course not everyone is as kind and caring as others but, majority of people who hang out in the general chat of splinteralands are people who are willing to spend their time trying to help you with your problems, it maybe technical, strategic or other forms of troubles there will always be those that are willing to lend a helping hand, and that for me is the best appeal a community could give!
Speaking of community, a new and promising group is showing interest in splinterlands, that community is @Versagames. This community is composed of varied people, ranging from play to earn card game, rpg play to earn, to other p2e games, in which they aim to gather gather people and create a community where not only can they enjoy different games together but share their experiences and grow as players.
They are also very generous as they do many giveaways which are open to everyone! It's not only worth a small amount but the prizes are really big! Ranging from $500 to $2000 worth prizes, this community definitely care for its members!
Getting Started
Compared to other games, splinterlands is a relatively low investment game that you can start off, but first and foremost one should view splinterlands as a long term game that you will need both skill and wise financial decision to prosper. To start off, what you need to buy is the "Spellbook" the spellbook is basically your entry ticket to the game, it's a one time purchase worth $10, and will grant you all access to the features in game. The Spellbook can be bought with many currencies such as, ETH, BTC, HIVE and many more. I personally recommend using HIVE as splinterlands is a HIVE game in nature and would need less fees to process.
Then one of the best tip I could give to a new player is to join the discord of splinterlands, there you will experience first hand one of the best community in the play to earn world, there are also those who are willing to extend a helping hand to those who just started!
Before fully investing in the the game, try and get a feel of what the gameplay really is, and how the economy is, then you can go through the different content creators that makes really good tips and tricks on how to get started and how to be either a low spending player or maximizing the profit you can get from your investment.
