The goat without ears coughs
I wish I could remember that first day,
Why should a foolish marriage vow,
Let others sing of knights and paladines
At liberty I sit and see
Whatever is we only know
And then fate strikes us. First our joys decay.
INTO the darkness whence they came,
Broom out the floor now, lay the fender by,
For three years, out of key with his time,
Smile then, children, hand in hand
Once, in finesse of fiddles found I ecstasy,
The dark socket of the year
A good old couple! kind and wise!
The time of youth is to be spent
The sun is warm, the sky is clear.
