When I Grow Up
When I grow up, I want to be free
I remember I Said, to 9 year old me
Not knowing the conundrum
Predetermined, not by me
The mystification would seem
That it could only be me
Who would encumber myself
Impeding, on being free
Force me in a box
That they call a classroom
Flicking the locks
And that’s where it stops
I rebelled in frustration
Always picking the fights
With teachers of all subjects
Not saying im right
Im always wrong It would seem
So downhill I spiralled
My failure to strive
My failure to dream
So many questions I had
With no one to answer
Not allowed in the class
They said I was like cancer
I spread my disease
To students around me
Disrupting the room
Just to find 1 fucking answer
It was then that I left
And opened the doors
Experiencing life
And getting fucked by its flaws
10 years later
I started my degree
With one thing in mind
I will finally be free
Iv been up, Iv been down
I felt I could never touch the ground
But to my hard work
My Time, and dedication
Iv proved them all wrong, Not
From their motivation
The system failed me
Because I wanted to learn
But Not to their standards
Whos fault? Clearly me
What I needed the most
Was a place that accepts
That all kids have questions
Show us the steps
Im still a fair distance
To saying im free
But no credit to them
Im closer because of me
