On a lonely path, I moved,
I sought help,
I cried out as much as I could,
my soul was dying gradually,
my spirit filled with so much hurt and regret from the past.
How I wish I was a little smarter,
how I wish I knew better,
how I wish I was a little wiser,
all this would not have happened.
I stood from a distance, as I saw those whom I have called friends betray me,
I watched from a distance as I saw them mock me,
I watched from a distance and I observed that they saw me burning and they turned their faces away.
Oh, how cruel can you be earth?
how cruel can you be oh nature?
why have you decided to turn against me,
what offence have I committed to receive such treatment?
I have cried so much that I have swollen eyes,
I have asked you to please forgive me,
I have pleaded with you to ignore my past,
but you just allow my past to hunt me,
the injuries from my past is now ever fresh and painful.
But through all of these, I have only learnt to smile,
I have only learnt to stay happy,
I have only learnt that there is a future,
I have only learnt that I can be the best I can be,
I can be strong and fulfilled.
