I envision a few scenarios for the future of transaction exchange of value. But I think most likely is that cryptocurrencies evolve into a fluid game of competition between network speeds, fees and interoperability. It's not necassarily the scenario I would like to see, but it seems like the path that this technology is taking.
In this scenario, the blockchians with viable usecases or products that can communicate most effectively will drive the financial markets. With the advent of AI integration and more streamlined user interface for crypto wallets, automatic swaps between coins will become common place, allowing the mainstream to use the technology without really understanding it.
For me this takes away a major utility of blockchian - being my own bank! Holding my own private keys and understanding how to move crypto and make it work for me is a huge part of the appeal...
But I think that the culmination of this technology will take place when it is used behind the scenes as a digital payment solution without the vast majority of users even knowing that their money is now printed on a blockchian.
