A place where we normally go for some fresh nature photos looked a bit different this time. Last time we were there last summer. Though dry at that time of the year there are bushes, dry grasses, flowers leftovers and lots of small trees sprouting.
When we went there to check on it last week I was expecting more flower, lavender bushes in bloom, small shrubs with pretty yellow flowers. All the things I can normally find there. But it was all gone.
There was a fire in that area last year. One of many that burned in Portugal in the longest and driest summer I remember. Some small flowers did manage to pop, grasses were slowly covering the burned patches. Not sure if the trees survived. Burned bark and branch tips didn't look good.
It was sad to look at knowing how the place looked like before. But it will recover... with time..
If there is no more fires...
