There have been rumors that the 4th generation of Pokemon are about to be released on Pokemon Go! Gen 4 in Pokemon sees a number of first generation Pokemon with new evolutions. There are also a number of Gen 2 and 3 Pokemons that also evolve. In total, there are a total 22 new evolutions from existing Pokemon. Therefore, a good strategy may be to start looking through your Pokemon to see if you have some of these already preselected and ready to evolve once the update is released.
However, what is unknown is how they will evolve. The majority of Pokemon now evolve by giving it candy. However, Gen 2 on Pokemon go introduced new items like Dragon Scale and Metal Coat to evolve certain Pokemon. Gen 3 also introduced the need to walk Pokemon in order to evolve as well (i.e. Feebas). So, will they introduce new items to give Pokemon in order to evolve or new mechanics like trading (which is part of the main series games) in order to evolve certain Pokemon. Either way, here is the list of those existing Pokemon that will have evolutions in Gen 4:

If you are like me and probably have most of these already with enough candy to potentially evolve, I would suggest naming some of your top IV ones a generic name in order to be prepared as soon as it is released. Here are a couple of snapshots of my bag:
Niantic continues to provide content to keep us entertained for sure. This has probably been the busiest period of Pokemon Go since raids started last summer. Go and catch them all!
