Things in Florida for spring break have escalated quickly.
The celebration isn't over yet but some have already cut their trip short because of the situation unfolding in the region.
Politicians in FL have declared a state of emergency over the partying, with some saying that it isn't like old spring break celebrations like your parents might have had years ago, but that this was different and worse.
Critics said it was nothing but people just hanging out on the beach and the usual spring break activities that they say the region should be familiar with given that this happens on a regular occasion for years now.
They don't know why things have gotten to where they are now.
There have been reports of shootings at Miami Beach and now an emergency curfew has gone into place to deal with the situation. There has been a lot of police presence in the area as you can see from the video above, as well as large crowds out on the street for the spring break celebrations going on around town.
The move for an emergency is one that critics argue is another overreach of government.
That isn't only the opinion from some of those who might be attending the celebrations either. Even one former Miami Beach commissioner has also suggested that this step has been a bit heavy handed, and that the state of emergency is an abuse of government power which 'scares the crap out of him'.
Millions of people have been to FL for spring break over the past several decades that this has been a tradition for many to enjoy. Is this the worst that they've seen it? Some in the area think so, but others say they're just making too much out of something that isn't out of the ordinary. Then there are others though who did attend who say they will never be back after what's gone on recently in the region.
Some activists (BLM) have even gone so far as to criticize the crackdown in FL on spring break as being racist, while others have suggested that the only 'emergency' at the event is 'black people on the beach'.
Some reports have suggested that it might be mostly locals allegedly causing problems in the regions as well and not out of town tourists.
