Lifeguards put up signs after the attack in Encinitas, CA, for two miles along the beach. One mile North and one South of where the incident took place.
It was nothing more than a brush against a surfers foot. He said it wasn't even a bite, though you'd think it was Jaws by the local media's reaction.
Hail to King sensationalism!
Anything and everything the media can use to scare people these days is in full play.
As an offshore fisherman who has lived and fished the waters off the coast of California for decades, I can tell you...
If you go surfing or swimming, there will be sharks in the water!
They don't typically attack humans but at any moment they could. My guess is that they found some closer feeding grounds without having the commotion of so many people in the water for an extended period.
Sharks adapt to changes just as we do. Especially if it involves a safer hunting ground (er...water).
Timing Is Everything
Of course, this attack occured within a day or two of the lifting of Encinitas beach bans. What better timing for the circling of media bandwagons on such a hotly contested issue?
By now, most of us have likely seen the YouTube video of the 2 doctors from Bakersfield, CA, who recommended the reopening of society.
They list a growing number of concerns that are already known to leave severe lifelong trauma in their wake. Child abuse is on the rise. Elderly abuse too.
Alcoholism and addictions to other drugs are now inescapable for many of the innocent involved. What these MD's say in the video isn't anything new.
Anyone with the ability to think past their own nose could see the exacerbation of all these issues during a mandated lockdown.
So What Does Governor Gavin Gruesome Intend To Do?
He plans to do what is best known by a popular term in the health industry. Reports expect he will go AMA (Against Medical Advice) and implement the closure of all State parks and beaches later today!

Personally, I'm all for hunkering down if you're an immuno-compromised person. Or even if you're just afraid to go out that much.
These closures and lockdowns, however, will take a toll far worse than anything a nasty virus could do. I hope Guvner Gaby pulls the bat back at the last second.
Update: Newsome didn't go through with the closures. He said he never planned to do it in direct contrast to other gov official's statements.
Perhaps President Trump Tweeted it best in a moment of profound epiphany.
"We can't let the cure be worse than the virus!"
Happy Buzzing fellow Hiveians!! Catch you on the flip side. @inalittlewhile
