That was a favorite saying of my grandmother when I was a kid. Of course, being a kid I heard it as take t and c.
I was an adult before I realized it was an actual saying for an ad from the Tea Council, something else I had no idea existed.
Did you know we had a tea council? I didn't. This is a commercial from that time frame.
Much in the same way as it is relaxing, so is tea. This coming from a diehard "gotta have 7 cups a day" coffee drinker. Coffee is like high octane jet fuel. It's made for go go go. I even have been known to call it my go juice.
I was drinking up to a pot of coffee a day somedays. It was just a convenient grab and go sort of thing. Had to have it before work, after work, during work. Sailors spend a good amount of time swilling, strong, sometimes burnt smelling coffee. Also, never ever, under any circumstances, wash a sailor's cup. They like it looking all black and dark. I don't know why either.
I used 2-3 teaspoons of sugar per cup. Once I cut that out and switched to monk fruit, I gave up hundreds of calories per week. Not too shabby, huh? But, as all good things go, my love affair with that magical elixir came to an end recently.
I won't say I discovered tea like some sort of adventurer in a pith helmet, hacking his way through the jungle. I had used tea before, especially green tea. It has a way of settling stomachs, much akin to ginger ale. Also, my mom and other family members drank it as well. I have never used milk like they did though.
I switched to tea in the past few weeks, quitting coffee cold turkey. I feel better, I believe green tea, or any tea has definite health benefits. I am only saving a few calories with Honey. But, it's nowhere near as much as I was doing with sugar. I find, without having to overcome the strong, acidity? of coffee, a smaller amount of my current Orange Blossom Honey goes a lot further.
Another thing I like about tea is the seemingly unending varieties available. Sadly, I am currently stuck using the bag stuff. As soon as I can, I will be switching to looseleaf teas. The quality is better and there are more choices available. At some point, tea drinking can be come a daily ritual for you. So, as the ad says "Take tea and see"
As always, this is just my .02¢ worth, YMMV
Thanks for reading, I love you and God Bless
