After our last post announcing a change in how we curated promoted POSH tweets and seeing them work well so far for those who've understood how they work, we'd want to focus on another unused platform to incentivize sharing of Hive links and reward those focusing on getting Hive front-ends visibility.
This one will be quite different from the other so I will explain below how it will work and then the why.
Reddit POSH initiative
From today on we will reward both comments announcing that they've shared a @peakd link onto Reddit depending on how well the Reddit submission did and in the same go also curate the post if it's under our scope of curation and not too old to wreck our curation returns too much as @ocdb gets its power from the people who delegate to it so we wouldn't want to disincentivize them too much.
Simply put:
- Share a Hive post on Reddit (preferably @peakd link)
- Grab the Reddit link to your share and drop it in the @ocd POSH compilation posts.
- Receive a comment upvote and possibly get the post curated.
In this initiative we will allow people to share their own links as well.
Things you should know
Reddit is very strict about rules to communities/subreddits, make sure to read up on them so you don't get yourself banned from posting in that subreddit anymore.
Look for subreddits that fit your post's genre and niche. Here's a link to finding subreddits easier: https://www.reddit.com/subreddits/
Don't expect every comment to be rewarded and post to be curated, we at @ocd have a lot of restrictions in place to better distribute rewards wide. This is also a new and experimental initiative so we are going to need some time to make sure your @peakd submission on reddit are gaining some traction before we reward your comment.
Tell me why!
@peakd is one of the first front-ends to make the view counter accessible again to everyone. Although it doesn't show the exact amount of views it gives us an estimate when certain thresholds are crossed. Reddit has a large userbase, while it isn't easy to get onto trending there or get a lot of views to your post it is quite different from Twitter. More chances to get more traffic and possible new users to Hive the better so we want to reward those putting in the effort to POSH.
Our curators will check each 4 of the big front-ends, @peakd, hive.blog, @ecency and @leofinance on a daily basis in case someone has shared a post that would be eligible for rewards but just didn't add a comment in case we can still curate it, this will be something passive from your side so you won't need to worry about it. While any of the front-ends is eligible for comment rewards, we're prioritizing peakd as that way we get another proof that it indeed did get a lot of traffic if the submission both has upvotes received and views on peakd, but the other front-ends can receive comment rewards and curation as well.
If you are a curator yourself reading this and want to help the initiative, this is a great place to track Hive front-end links shared onto reddit:
https://old.reddit.com/domain/peakd.com/
just switch the domain with whichever front-end you want to browse. As an example above, @luizeba shared a post in the appropriate subreddit about a game he was posting about on Hive a couple days ago, it may have gotten him a few extra views from people outside of Hive: https://old.reddit.com/r/TibiaMMO/comments/tt63k2/tibia_adventures_chapter_02_first_hunts/
@luizeba/tibia-adventures-chapter-02-first
This is something we would want to reward more either through curation or giving the comment announcing that he's shared it on Reddit or both!
@poshtoken will most likely in the future automate this process to work similarly as with Tweets but for now we'll do it this way until we can get the bot to work perfectly and build it bigger.
Let us know your thoughts and if we can improve on this in any way! If you have some other platforms in mind you'd like to see POSH cover, feel free to let us know and we'll be looking into it, though be aware that big ones like Facebook are already in our scope and we're making plans on getting them added. Though we may need some more dev power and funding maybe through a DHF proposal, would this be something you'd support with your stake? :)
Cheers and until next time!
