A girl in her mid 20's posted her nude with her friends on social media and she blocked the mother from viewing her status and post, unfortunately the mother boasts a lot about her daughters decency, so other friends who knew her family background viewed her status and called her mother's attention to it, she was surprised because she thought she was still in full authority when it comes to what her daughter do on social media but unfortunately she's not anymore.
When asked she replied Thats what everyone do on social media so why should mine be different?
Unfortunately not just her but thousands of young people face serious risk of mental breakage as a result of use of social media, parents are working so hard to track their childrens behavior on social media but as they try their best the children uses technology tools to keep so many things hidden from their parents.
Imagine a child in her teen hiding her post and friends on social media away from the parents, a proof that the child mental health is no more healthy, That's the common reason why immorality is no more something to frown at because most young once are no more mentally healthy.
Yes to a large some extent social media has some advantages that can benefit serious minded children but majority of the children in this generation are not ready to imitate good examples rather they focus on negative things that will ruin them but mentally and physically.
Most homes are not family members anymore because of social media, a friend who has two adolescent at home mentioned that she and her husband only set eyes on their children during dinner, after that they will walk straight to their rooms and continue chatting with their friends on social media.
Thats one disadvantage of social media that has lead to serious mental issues because at most times parents know little or nothing about their childrens well-being, they only share their concerns with their friends on social media and sometimes before the parents gets to know what its happening its already too late, some will have to visit a doctor before they can become mentally healthy.
In the year 2013 a young girl in her 20's lost her life during a liposuction surgery, the saddest aspect of the story was that the parents knew nothing about it, she traveled all the way from the east to the western part of the country just to meet an incompetent surgeon who wasted her life, before she gave up to ghost, she sent apology to the parents through his friend who brought her to the hospital.
During interrogation the friend confessed that they were moved by the celebrities they view on social media, since they couldn't afford a competent doctor, they came to an affordable hospital where her friend lost her life.
She also mentioned that she never knew the deceased until the day she came for liposuction, they were just friends on social media who loved to be like some celebrities.
It can concluded that they kept viewing those celebrities on social media until they messed up their mental health and decided to get their body done by all means and it lead to losing of life.
So many experiences today have shown that social media is advantageous but the rate of harm it has caused on adolescent is far more than its advantage.
