I am not surprised you would leap to the aid of someone who was being assaulted. I also would. Though probably, as a coward, I would protect myself as much as possible.
I remember passing by a parking lot (in my car). I saw a man throw a woman to the ground. He was about to kick her. I skidded into the parking lot. Opened my door and stood just outside the car.
"Leave her alone!" I yelled. Not very brave of me, perhaps, but he actually hesitated. He still wanted to kick her!!! Then he stopped. She slowly got up and walked away. These were neighbors. She was his wife. Ever after we both pretended this never happened.
I think nature gave me a little too much adrenaline :))
