Baron's Bounty: Burn DEC and VOUCHER and Get Prizes!
A new event on Splinterlands has started a few hours ago, dedicated to the upcoming halving of Bitcoin: Baron's Bounty offers as prizes some cards provided with the halving ability and which can be obtained by burning DEC (or alternatively by spending Credits) and VOUCHER (to get a discount of up to 50% compared to the base price).
Both of the cards up for grabs feature the halving ability, which halves the attack of enemy creatures when they are hit, as well as a series of additional abilities that are unlocked as each card's level increases.
The cost to acquire each copy is a tribute to the value of the post-halving rewards to mine Bitcoin: 31,250 DEC for the legendary card and 3,125 DEC for the rare card.
This is quite a high price, especially when compared to the value of cards of equal rarity in other sets, but of course you have to take into account that these are PROMO CARDS, thus only available during this event.
As mentioned above, with VOUCHERS you can also halve the purchase cost of these cards, and you can also benefit - at least right now - from the depeg of the DEC token, which allows you to buy the latter at a lower value than it should have.
Despite this, the cost remains quite high, and I, personally, have therefore sadly decided not to take part in the event.
Luckily, however, there are those who have a different opinion, and the fight to get to the top of the leaderboard is already fierce!
Leaderboard and Prizes
Indeed, buying each copy of these Promo cards also grants points, which are awarded according to a multiplier that is at its maximum on the first day of the event and decreases as we approach the end, starting with a x3 and ending with a x1.
Each DEC (or Credits) spent therefore corresponds to 1 point, which is then multiplied by the multiplier in force at the time of the purchase.
The points thus obtained have two purposes:
- give every 10,000 points a chance to win one of the prizes offered;
- allow you to compete against other players to reach the top of the leaderboard and win more prizes!
What prizes are up for grabs?
As always, the prize pool is very rich and winning one of these prizes can really make a difference for players with fewer assets!
Between packs of cards, Titles, Land Plots and Runis, the rewards are truly impressive for the lucky winners!
Let the competition begin!
The countdown has already begun and a large number of players have already burned more than 160,000,000 DEC in total... a truly impressive amount!
However, there are still just under 14 days to go until the end of the event, so this number will certainly rise a little further and the ranking itself may hold a few more surprises.
The effect on the DEC token so far does not seem to have been particularly strong, but reducing the supply is still a good thing that increases the chances of seeing the DEC token firmly set at its peg eventually.

Baron's Bounty: Brucia DEC e VOUCHER e Ottieni Premi!
E' iniziato da poche ore un nuovo evento su Splinterlands dedicato all'imminente halving di Bitcoin: Baron's Bounty mette in premio alcune carte dotate dell'abilità halving e ottenibili bruciano DEC (o in alternativa spendendo Credits) e VOUCHER (per ottenere uno sconto fino al 50% rispetto al prezzo base).
Entrambe le carte messe in palio sono dotate dell'abilità halving, che dimezza l'attacco delle creature nemiche colpite, oltre ad una serie di ulteriori abilità che vengono sbloccate con l'aumentare del livello di ciascuna delle due carte.
Il costo per aggiudicarsi ciascuna copia è invece un omaggio al valore delle ricompense post-halving per minare Bitcoin: 31.250 DEC per la carta leggendaria e 3.125 DEC per la carta rara.
Si tratta di una somma abbastanza alta, soprattutto se confrontata con il valore di carte di pari rarità presenti negli altri set, ma naturalmente bisogna tenere in considerazione il fatto che si tratta di carte Promo, disponibili quindi solo nel corso di questo evento.
Come detto poco sopra, con i VOUCHER è inoltre possibile dimezzare il costo di acquisto di queste carte, oltre a poter beneficiare - almeno in questo momento - del depeg del token DEC, che consente di acquistare quest'ultimo ad un valore inferiore a quello che dovrebbe avere.
Nonostante questo la spesa resta considerevole e, personalmente, purtroppo ho quindi deciso di non prendere parte all'evento.
Per fortuna però che chi la pensa diversamente e la lotta per arrivare nei primi posti della classifica è già serratissima!
Classifica e Premi
Acquistare ciascuna copia di queste carte Promo garantisce infatti anche dei punti, che vengono attribuiti secondo un moltiplicatore che è massimo il primo giorno dell'evento e diminuisce via via che ci avviciniamo alla fine, partendo da un x3 e per arrivare ad un x1.
Ad ogni DEC (o Credits) speso corrisponde quindi 1 punto, che viene poi moltiplicato per il moltiplicatore in vigore al momento dell'acquisto.
I punti così ottenuti hanno due funzioni:
attribuire ogni 10.000 punti una chance di vincere uno dei premi messi in palio;
farci competere contro gli altri giocatori per raggiungere i posti più alti di una classifica e vincere ulteriori premi!
Quali sono i premi messi in palio?
Come sempre il montepremi è ricchissimo ed aggiudicarsi qualcuno di questi premi può veramente fare la differenza per i giocatori con meno assets!
Tra pacchetti di carte, Titoli, Plot di terra e Runi, le ricompense sono davvero notevoli per i fortunati vincitori!

Il countdown è già iniziato ed un gran numero di giocatori ha già bruciato complessivamente oltre 160.000.000 di DEC... un ammontare davvero impressionante!
Mancano però ancora poco meno di 14 giorni alla fine dell'evento, per cui sicuramente questo numero aumenterà ancora un po' e la classifica stessa potrebbe riservare qualche ulteriore sorpresa.
Gli effetti sul token DEC per ora non sembrano essere stati particolarmente incisivi, ma ridurre la supply è pur sempre un'ottima cosa che incrementa le chances di riuscire a vedere, prima o poi, il token DEC in maniera stabile fisso al suo peg.
