Counterspell! And Your Magic is Gone
Any experienced mage knows that the best way to counter a spell is by using a... counterspell! Fighting fire with fire is every mage's trump card, and the Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge asks us precisely to demonstrate our skills in this challenge.
The Counterspell ruleset makes each magical attack be matched by a magical counterattack that is launched against the attacker; the strength of this counterattack is half the original attack, but abilities like amplify can increase the damage dealt by +1.
The damage is rounded up and doesn't take into account any defensive abilities of the attacking creature, meaning that if an attacker uses +1 magic against a creature with the void ability, the attacking creature will suffer +1 magic damage in turn.
However, if any of the creatures involved in the clash has the reflection shield ability, it will then be immune to the effects of the Counterspell ruleset and will never suffer any return damage.
There are many considerations to be made and the variables are countless: if you choose to deploy several creatures with magic attacks things can get very complicated!
Let's move onto the battlefield!
Let us then analyse a game played with this ruleset:
In order to avoid complications, both my opponent and I choose not to deploy creatures with magic attacks whenever possible: the presence of the Broken Arrows ruleset limits our choices even further, and thus the opposing team ends up with a creature with magic attacks...
It's time to demonstrate the power of counterspells!
The greater speed of my creatures allows them to attack first, using to their advantage the devastating effects produced by the third and last ruleset, Explosive Weaponry: in the course of the first round many of the enemy creatures are damaged, including the only magical attacker, who suffers a double counterattack with each of its own attack, since the effects of the Explosive Weaponry and Counterspell rulesets combine together.
The amount of damage caused by the synergy between my creatures and the rulesets is so high, that at the end of the second turn only one enemy creature is still standing, although its seconds are ticking away.
Krash Wanderford, boosted by the weapong training ability and endowed with tremendous speed, doesn't let the last target get away and allows my team to claim a perfect victory.
MVP of the match
The creatures of the Gladius set almost always manage to stand out in battle, and Krash Wanderford, despite not being gifted with any kind of attack by default, is no exception: thanks to its synergy with the other creatures deployed on the field, its attacks are swift and lethal, leaving the opponent's creatures no chance.

The Counterspell ruleset also allows my creatures in the back to have their say, taking out a dangerous enemy creature before it can cause me any trouble.
Not deploying magic attackers therefore proves to be the winning choice, although the combination of rulesets and abilities of my creatures certainly contributed greatly to making any magic attack almost a suicide.

Contromagia! E la Tua Magia è Annullata
Qualsiasi mago esperto sa che il miglior modo per contrastare un incantesimo è utilizzare una... contromagia! Combattere il fuoco con il fuoco è l'asso nella manica di ogni mago e la Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge ci chiede proprio di dimostrare le nostre abilità in questa sfida.
Il ruleset Counterspell fa sì che ad ogni attacco magico corrisponda un controattacco magico che viene scagliato contro l'attaccante stesso; la forza di questo contrattacco è pari alla metà dell'attacco originale, ma abilità come amplify possono incrementare di +1 il danno inflitto.
L'arrotondamento del danno avviene per eccesso e non tiene conto di eventuali abilità difensive della creatura che subisce l'attacco: ciò significa che se un attaccante usa un atto magico di +1 contro una creatura dotata dell'abilità void, la creatura attaccante subirà a propria volta +1 danno magico.
Se qualcosa delle creature coinvolte nello scontro è però dotata dell'abilità reflection shield, questa sarà allora immune dagli effetti del ruleset Counterspell e non subirà mai alcun danno di ritorno.
Le considerazioni da fare non poche e le variabili sono innumerevoli: se si sceglie di schierare diverse creature con attacchi magici le cose possono diventare molto complicate!
Spostiamoci sul Campo di Battaglia!
Passiamo allora ad analizzare una partita disputata con questa regola di gioco:
Proprio per evitare eccessive complicazioni, sia io che il mio avversario scegliamo di non schierare, ove possibile, creature con attacchi magici: la presenza del ruleset Broken Arrows limita però ulteriormente le nostre scelte, e nel team avversario viene quindi alla fine schierata una creatura con attacchi magici...
E' il momento di dimostrare il potere delle contromagie!
La maggior velocità delle mie creature consente loro di attaccare per prime, sfruttando a proprio vantaggio i devastanti effetti prodotti dal terzo ed ultimo ruleset, Explosive Weaponry: nel corso del primo turno molte delle creature nemiche vengono danneggiate, incluso l'unico attaccante magico, che ad ogni attacco subisce un duplice contrattacco, dal momento che gli effetti dei rulesets Explosive Weaponry e Counterspell si combinano tra di loro.
L'ammontare dei danni causati dalla sinergia tra le mie creature ed i rulesets è così alto, che alla fine del secondo turno una sola creatura nemica resta ancora in piedi, sebbene i suoi secondi siano contati.
Krash Wanderford, potenziato dall'abilità weapong training e dotato di una velocità enorme, non si lascia scappare l'ultimo bersaglio e consente al mio team di conquistare una vittoria perfetta.
MVP della partita
Le creature del set Gladius riescono quasi sempre a distinguersi in battaglia, e Krash Wanderford, nonostante di base non sia dotato di alcun tipo di attacco, non fa eccezione: grazie alla sua sinergia con le altre creature schierate in campo, i suoi attacchi sono rapidi e letali, non lasciando scampo alle creature avversarie.

Il ruleset Counterspell consente inoltre anche alle mie creature nelle retrovie di dire loro, eliminando una pericolosa creature nemica prima che possa causarmi problemi.
Non schierare attaccanti magici si rivela quindi la scelta vincente, anche se il combinarsi dei rulesets e delle abilità delle mie creature sicuramente ha contribuito in maniera importante a rendere qualsiasi attacco magico praticamente un suicidio.
