A few days ago I was thinking of doing something different. I wanted to work with beads, but to be honest, these tiny beads that have so many different uses and give such beautiful results, have always intimidated me. I am fascinated by beads, but they are really laborious work and those who work with them have my respect and admiration. Although I still felt intimidated I ventured to make a choker combining two styles, perhaps a little rocker by the type of fabric that is a piece of black denim with bangs and also a little hippie by the colors of the beads and the pendant that is very characteristic of this sling. The materials are as follows:

Hace unos días tenía pensado hacer algo diferente. Quería trabajar con mostacillas pero si les soy sincera, estas diminutas cuentas de usos tan variados y que dan resultados tan lindos, siempre me han intimidado. Me fascinan los trabajos hechos con mostacillas, pero son trabajos realmente laboriosos y quiénes trabajan con ellas tienen mis respetos y admiración. Aunque seguí sintiéndome intimidada me aventuré en realizar un choker combinando dos estilos, quizás un poco roquero por el tipo de tela que es un retazo de jean negro con flecos y también un poco hippie por los colores de las mostacillas y el colgante que es muy característico de esta honda. Los materiales son los siguientes:

Recortar un trozo de tela de aproximadamente 25 centímetros de largo por 3 de ancho. Procurar hacer el corte siguiendo en línea recta el entramado de la tela de jeans. Podemos ayudarnos con una regla para marcar la línea por dónde vamos a cortar. Este simple paso nos ayudará a que cuando realicemos los flecos, sea mucho más fácil extraer los hilos transversales que dan origen a los flecos.

After having made the bangs, the length is up to each person's taste. I didn't make mine too long, just a few millimeters to give a nice edge. Then with a ruler and a wax pencil I make a line leaving a centimeter approximately of upper and lower edge, this will give me a margin of one centimeter to embroider the beads.

Después de haber realizado los flecos, el largo es a gusto de cada quien. Los míos no los hice demasiado largos, solo unos milímetros para dar un borde bonito. Luego con una regla y un lápiz de cera realizo un trazo dejando un centímetro aproximadamente de borde superior e inferior, esto me dará un margen de un centímetro para bordar las mostacillas.

Thread a small needle with transparent nylon thread and start stitching the beads one by one with a backstitch. In this direction we pass the needle once we have threaded it and pass a bead, then we stitch backwards passing the needle a millimeter away from the previous bead. We pass a stitch and stitch backwards passing the needle through the hole of the first stitch. This allows each stitch to be doubly tightened and will be with the hole facing up. Make groups of 7 rows of 5 beads each along the entire length of the jeans strip.

Enhebramos una aguja pequeña con hilo de nylon transparente y empezamos a coser las mostacillas una a una realizando una costura pespunte o punto atrás. En este sentido paso la aguja una vez que la hemos enhebrado y pasamos una mostacilla, luego damos una puntada hacia atrás pasando la aguja a un milímetro de distancia de la mostacilla anterior. Pasamos un mostacilla y damos la puntada hacia atrás pasando la aguja por el orificio de la primera mostacilla. Esto nos permite que cada mostacilla este doblemente ajustada y quedarán con el orificio hacia arriba. Realice grupos 7 filas de 5 mostacillas cada uno a todo lo largo de la tira de jeans.

Leave a margin of two centimeters at the beginning and three centimeters at the end to glue the velcro that will serve as a closure. This work turned out to be very satisfying, although I was frustrated many times because the thread got tangled. Still I kept going and it took me three days to finish it. Este trabajo resultó ser muy satisfactorio aunque en muchas ocasiones me sentí algo frustrada porque se enredaba muchísimo el hilo. Aún así seguí avanzando y me llevó tres días terminarlo. Claro está que solo me dedicaba una hora porque me agotaba bastante. Pero finalmente logré el objetivo y me quedo tal como lo imaginaba. Espero que también les guste. Chao Chao.
