I can't say this about other countries but here in India most of us who have studied anything in their life hardly has anything to do with what they do for their actual Job right now and this is a thing that has always been in my head ever since I was on the verge of applying for Colleges.
For example a person studying Medical will most likely work hard study hard and become a Doctor of any field and that is how things should be but if you are studying Engineering then I just don't know what your future withholds as I am pretty sure if there is a Census being done of only engineers as to what jobs they are doing right now, I am pretty sure that majority of the passed out engineers are doing something else in life rather than being an Engineer.
Now I am not making fun of other jobs but that really is sad ad you spent 4 years learning something which you can't even use in your current job.
So when I took my path towards education I was very sure as to what I was going to do and what I wasn't going to do. For starters I was strictly against the point of becoming a Teacher simply because I knew from the get go that I was not a teacher material. But when I took Botany as my Major in College I was pretty set on becoming a Forest Officer and I actively pursued it but fate had other things in mind and I ended up as a Sales Officer for Agrochemicals which means I am kind of a Doctor for Plants as I suggest various useful things for crops.
I am really grateful for the fact that even though my initial aim of becoming a Forest Officer didn't come true I still landed closeby where I am able to use my skills from Botany into my Current job which is Crop Protection. But I feel like in India it really is hard to work our skills that we have learned during our education course and apply them to our current job as the diversification of jobs is very limited and that may be the fact why even though we are learning skills during our education phase it is hard for finding the right job match to our skills.
