Hi friend, let’s talk FROM SCRATCH.
First off, if you don’t have some tears to spare then you probably shouldn’t watch this show. It is really emotional and you won’t help but feel it all.
It is a story that softly captures the delicacy of love, the beauty and struggles of commitment and the different dynamics of our lifestyles and connections. It is about art, food and culture. All the tiny details that make us.

One of the easiest words to describe love with is ‘beautiful’. It may not seem to do justice to it but sometimes, when you behold an expression of deep love, the only word that would seem right in that moment is ‘beautiful’.
Everything about love is beautiful. How it gives, takes, cares, and sees. To behold someone and immediately know your heart can do anything for them. The beauty in losing control, surrendering the reins of your heart to the hands of another and to have your survival depends on how they yank and ride. From Scratch did justice to projecting a beautiful love tale.

“ITALIANS LOVE A GOOD LOVE STORY AND OURS IS ONE FOR THE AGES”

This is a love story; love of people, love of food, love of culture, love of art. It is an all round beautiful piece of work. Apparently, it was adapted from a memoir by Tembi Locke who co created the show with her sister Attica Locke.
It is a story of a deep connection that transcends cultural lines, geographical limitations and language barrier. The main characters are Amy Wheeler and Lino Ortolano embodied by Zoe Saldana and Eugenio Masteandrea. They were perfect.

A girl meets boy and they fell in love. Together they try to build a life for themselves. Little did they know what lies ahead, what trials and pain they would encounter. It wouldn’t be beautiful if life didn’t happen to them in different ways, if it wasn’t difficult, if it wasn’t challenging. It was beautiful because at the center of everything was love.

It is not only a story about a boy and a girl in love, it is also about family, everyone who shares a cup of love, a bond and connection with the couple. It is a story about community, about choice, pain and ultimately support and devotion.
Each one, giving love in the capacity they can, each one offering a hand and a shoulder to a friend.

It is a story about family, and how the pain of someone you love can break you showing how we are all connected in joy and despair. It shows what a blessing it is to be surrounded by love on your best and worst days and have the confidence that you can always count on love. That is a gift we can all have and give to each other.
FROM SCRATCH is a story about difficult relationships, difficult conversations; heartbreak, belonging, anger, and all the details that exist in a family with a broken bond and misguided affection. If we can just make a little room for the softness our hearts keep reaching for, if we can stop being so angry and just talk, be honest and accountable.

It is no different from the regular love stories we watch everyday, but it offers an interesting perspective into the depth in our connections and how dependent we are on each other.
I learnt from it that love is the ultimate salvation, it is the only saving we need, the only cleansing we need and a sure path to a happy afterlife.
SAD AND HAPPY ENDINGS.
I love stories with sad endings, because they are realistic and ultimately truer. As every life ends, and endings are sad. Happy endings are beautiful and uplifting yet, inconclusive because that is not the end of the life of that story.

I was torn in some kind of conflict, trying to decipher if this show ended happily or sadly. I mean, there was a lot of pain at the end, but there was also love, happiness and an evidence of a beautiful life. You would cry a little or more, but you’ll also swell with joy and profound admiration of love.
Life happens to make our next chapters more interesting. It helps to think of it as a game; we begin small with little drops of experiences and as we grow in size, strength and wisdom, our challenges also grows in nuance and intensity. Love is the only thing that makes it worth it. Even when love hurts, or leaves, it is always worth it.

WHAT SCARES YOU ABOUT LOVE?
This show confirmed my biggest fear about loving someone and that’s watching them suffer without being able to do anything to help. As someone who has watched someone they love wallow helplessly in ill health, I would hate to live through that again with my partner. I don’t want to watch my love suffer, I don’t want to watch my love die. I also don’t want to see anyone I love in that position of helplessness and despair; it would shatter me beyond repair.
What I want doesn’t matter at the end. No one goes around expecting the worst things to happen to them but it happens anyways. To be surrounded with love from the beginning to the end of our journey is the dream.
It has now become my dream to have a romantic relationship with a chef; one that would look me in the eyes as I savor the taste of their delicious meals. It is the hottest most romantic thing ever.
