This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Maneuvers ruleset, which means that all units will get the Reach ability, but what does it do? It simply means that all melee units that normally only attack from the first position, will now be able to attack from the second position.
Its like the Melee Mayhem ruleset (all melee monsters can attack from any position), but weaker.
Keep in mind that melee units that have the Sneak and Opportunity abilities override Reach.
Since only melee units will benefit from this ruleset, some of the following abilities may help against them:
![]() | Enemy melee monsters will lose -1 melee attack, but not less than 1. |
---|---|
![]() | Melee monsters take 2 melee damage when they attack a monster with this ability. |
![]() | Monsters with this ability take reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50% (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage. |
Monsters with high speed are also a good choice since they are more likely to dodge melee attacks, such as Almo Cambio.
At the moment the only Summoner that grants the Reach ability is:

Some monsters that have the Reach ability on its own are:

Xawi vs Moertoe!

In addition to the Maneuvers ruleset, only up to five monsters can be used. And summoners don't grant any stat buff or debuffs or grant/use any abilities in this battle.

The first player, Xawi, decides to choose Prince Julian, since it only costs 2 mana and allows the use of dragon elemental cards.

In the frontline position, Lord Arianthus, a monster that takes reduced damage from all damage types by 50% due to its Shield and Void abilities. Additionally, when hit by magic damage, does half the magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker. And when hit with a melee attack, does 2 melee damage to the attacker.

In the second position, Silvershield Knight, who can attack in this position thanks to the Maneuvers ruleset. He inspires his friendly melee allies with +1 melee attack. Additionally, if his attack exceeds the target's armor, the remainder will damage the target's health due to his Piercing ability. And if this card kills an enemy, it will make another melee attack on the next unit on the enemy team.

In the third position, Fiendish Harpy, who can fly, has a 25% bonus chance to evade melee and ranged attacks from non-flying monsters. And it has the Opportunity ability that allows her to attack from any position and will target the enemy unit with the lowest health.

In the fourth position, Feral Spirit, this smiling cat only has one ability but is one of the fastest creatures in Splinterlands. Its Sneak ability allows it to attack the enemy in the last position instead of the first unit.

Since Xawi has no more mana left, in the fifth position she uses Furious Chicken, which costs 0 mana. Unfortunately, this chicken will not be able to attack in this position and will act as a bait unit for enemy sneak and opportunity units.

The second player, Moertoe, uses Selenia Sky, probably because Prince Julian's rent costs a lot of Dec, and he didn't want to spend on it.
In the first position use Kralus, which is a powerful card that has 2 types of attacks (magic and melee). Kralus is immune to negative effects such as Poison. It has wings, giving it a 25% bonus chance to evade melee or ranged attacks from non-flying monsters. Additionally, it restores one-third of its max health each round. And lastly, it will increase +1 health for itself and its allies.
And only use one other monster in this battle, that being Truthspeaker, which is a support unit. It has no attack, but has the Protect ability, giving it and Kralus +2 armor. It will also remove negative effects on Kralus each turn.
Round 1:
Some monsters were damaged but none were defeated in this round.
Round 2:
Feral Spirit (Xawi) destroys ☠️Truthspeaker (Moertoe).
Round 3:
Silvershield Knight ends the battle by destroying ☠️Kralus.
This was a very quick battle, only lasting 3 rounds.
Xawi's lineup , had much more attack damage than Moertoe's units, which only had Kralus to attack. Kralus is a powerful card, but it has low attack for a 12 mana creature, even Feral Spirit (which costs 3 mana) has the same attack damage. Xawi won this battle without any problem.
