This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Melee Mayhem ruleset, which allows all melee units on the battlefield to attack from any position. Simple description but it's a powerful ruleset, the opponent will most likely play melee units to take advantage of it. Of course, the opponent will also think the same, so try to prepare a counter strategy.
Venka the Vile (the unit on the cover) made its debut on April 22, being the only card for now that has the Charge ability, which has the same effect as the Melee Mayhem ruleset allowing it to attack from any position.
Abilities that help against melee units:
![]() | Enemy melee monsters will lose -1 melee attack, but not less than 1. This ability can be stacked. |
---|---|
![]() | Melee monsters take 2 melee damage when they attack a monster with this ability. |
![]() | Monsters with this ability take reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50% (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage. |
![]() | If the monster with this ability is attacked by a melee attack, it has a 50% chance to attack the attacker. |
Consider these summoners that boost the melee monsters:
![]() | Possibilus the Wise, which will grant its allies the Trample and Reach abilities, which only affects monsters with melee attacks. They will be able to attack from the second position and if they manage to defeat an enemy unit they will perform another melee attack on the next monster. This summoner will give +2 health to its allies. |
---|---|
![]() | Lorkus will not only give +1 attack to melee and magic monsters. It also allows you to decide whether to grant the Affliction and Life Leech abilities, or the Fury and Trample abilities to two monsters before the battle begins. |
You can exclusively use these summoners in WILD battles:
![]() | Byzantine Kitty, will give +2 speed and the True Strike ability to all your monsters, so they cannot miss any attack. It also allows you to use dragon element cards, and will heal the friendly unit in the first position for one-third of their max health each round. |
---|---|
![]() | Plado Emberstorm, will increase the attack of his friendly melee units by +1, and grant +1 speed to all his allies. Additionally, he will curse the enemy units, reducing their health by -1. |
![]() | Mylor Crowling, which only costs 3 mana. This earth summoner only has one ability, but a very good one. Grants the Thorns ability to all its allies. |
Maplelicious VS OMG-SP2!

In addition to the Melee Mayhem ruleset, the summoners will not grant any abilities or stats to any monsters due to the Silenced Summoners ruleset. And only cards with even mana costs can be used in this battle.

The first player, Maplelicious, decides to choose Selenia Sky as the summoner, allowing the use of dragon element cards.

In the frontline position, Furious Chicken, which will die very quickly in this position, since it has no armor or abilities.

In the second position, Flesh Golem, the true tank monster of the lineup. It will restore a third of its max health each round thanks to its Heal ability. And takes reduced damage from magic attacks by 50% due to its Void ability.

In the third position, Cocatrice, which unfortunately is only at level 3 and only deals 1 melee damage. Well, at least it's a little fast, and has a 25% bonus chance to evade melee and ranged attacks from non-flying monsters thanks to being able to fly.

In the fourth position, Swamp Thing, will be the last monster of this lineup. It's very slow but also reduces the speed of all enemy units by 1. Additionally, it reduces the health of all enemy units by 1 due to its Weaken ability.

The second player, OMG-SP2, chose Plado Emberstorm, which costs a lot of mana for this battle. Maybe OMG-, didn't pay attention to the Silenced Summoners ruleset, which negates all summoner's abilities.
In the first position is Serpent of the Flame, which is very good against melee units, since this serpent is very fast with 6 speed, having more possibilities to evade melee and ranged attacks. It has the Retaliate ability, having a 50% chance to attack its attacker when hit by a melee attack. It also has a 50% chance to apply Poison to the enemy when attacking. And it has Piercing attacks.
In the Second position is Kobold Miner, who will attack the last unit on the enemy team instead of the first unit due to his Sneak ability.
And in the third position is Furious Chicken, which can attack thanks to the Melee Mayhem ruleset, if it is not defeated first.
Serpent of the Flame destroys ☠️Furious Chicken (Maplelicious).
(Flesh Golem and Cocatrice missed their attacks)
Round 2:
Kobold Miner destroys ☠️Swamp Thing.
(Serpent of the Flame applies Poison to the Flesh Golem when attacking it.
And Cocatrice also receives the poison, when it's attacked by Serpent of the Flame with its Retaliate ability.)
Round 3:
☠️Cocatrice is destroyed by the Poison effect applied by Serpent of the Flame in the previous round.
Round 4:
Kobold Miner ends the battle by destroying ☠️Flesh Golem.
Serpent of the Flame may only have 2 melee damage, which is low for a 6-mana creature, but its first two abilities that allow it to counterattack and poison, if activated, are really annoying for melee units. Which is what happened in this battle, the Golem and Cocatrice were poisoned and couldn't do anything to defeat the enemies before being eliminated.
The destructive power of the Melee Mayhem ruleset could not be appreciated in this battle, but at least the chicken of OMG- was able to attack three times.
