Today, I want to take you with me on a journey through two special days spent
in two different places that have something in common: they’re both located in
the province of Brescia and share part of their name.
It was a true journey into nature, among majestic mountains, refreshing
silences, and breathtaking views.
Sometimes, to find a bit of peace and escape the hectic city rhythm, all you
need is to let yourself be guided to these quiet corners where tranquility reigns
supreme.

Oggi voglio portarvi con me nel racconto di due giornate speciali, trascorse in due
luoghi diversi ma con qualcosa in comune: si trovano entrambi in provincia di Brescia
e condividono una parte del nome.
È stato un vero e proprio viaggio nella natura, tra montagne maestose, silenzi
rigeneranti e panorami mozzafiato.
A volte, per ritrovare un po’ di pace e staccare dal ritmo frenetico della città, basta
lasciarsi guidare verso questi angoli di quiete, dove la tranquillità regna sovrana.

PONTE CAFFARO
We are in the province of Brescia, overlooking the picturesque Lake Idro.
This place lies right on the border between Lombardy and Trentino-Alto
Adige; it’s no coincidence that, in many ways—especially in terms of order,
cleanliness, and peaceful atmosphere—it resembles the typical towns of
Trentino.
The town takes its name from the Caffaro River, which flows through it, as well
as from the numerous bridges that characterize the landscape. In addition to
the Caffaro, the Chiese River also runs here, flowing directly into Lake Idro,
creating a unique environment rich in biodiversity and spectacular natural
views.
It is undoubtedly a magical place, ideal for those seeking untouched nature,
clean air, and a bit of peace away from the chaos.
Thanks to its long cycle paths, it is also a popular destination for cyclists, who
can ride immersed in the stunning surroundings of lake, river, and mountains.
PONTE CAFFARO
Ci troviamo in provincia di Brescia, affacciati sul suggestivo Lago d’Idro.
Siamo proprio al confine tra Lombardia e Trentino-Alto Adige: non a caso, per
molti aspetti – soprattutto per l’ordine, la pulizia e l’atmosfera serena – questo
luogo ricorda i tipici paesi trentini.
Il paese prende il nome dal fiume Caffaro, che lo attraversa, e dai numerosi
ponti che caratterizzano il paesaggio. Oltre al Caffaro, qui scorre anche il
fiume Chiese, che si immette proprio nel Lago d’Idro, creando un ambiente
unico, ricco di biodiversità e scorci naturali spettacolari.
È senza dubbio un luogo magico, ideale per chi cerca natura incontaminata,
aria pulita e un po’ di pace lontano dal caos.
Grazie alle sue lunghe piste ciclabili, è anche una meta molto amata dai
ciclisti, che possono pedalare immersi tra lago, fiume e montagna.
We are in a truly unique place, nestled between the Brescia Prealps and the
peaceful shores of Lake Idro.
Here, nature takes center stage: you can enjoy long walks immersed in
greenery, accompanied only by the sound of water and the chirping of birds.
At the end of the trail, a real surprise awaits: the Lake Idro biotope, an area of
great natural and environmental value, recognized for its rich biodiversity.
In this wetter part of the lake, small natural ponds have formed, home to
numerous species of plants, birds, amphibians, and insects.
To allow visitors to observe without disturbing the wildlife, a wooden structure
has been built — a kind of “hide” with panoramic windows. From there, you
can quietly admire this wonder while fully respecting the environment.
Ci troviamo in un luogo davvero unico, incastonato tra le Prealpi bresciane e le
rive tranquille del Lago d’Idro.
Qui la natura è protagonista: è possibile fare lunghe passeggiate immersi nel
verde, accompagnati solo dal suono dell’acqua e dal cinguettio degli uccelli.
Alla fine del percorso, si apre davanti agli occhi una vera sorpresa: il biotopo
del Lago d’Idro, un’area di grande valore naturalistico e ambientale,
riconosciuta per la sua ricchissima biodiversità.
In questa zona più umida del lago, si sono formati piccoli stagni naturali, dove
vivono numerose specie di piante, uccelli, anfibi e insetti.
Per permettere ai visitatori di osservare senza disturbare, è stata realizzata una
struttura in legno, una sorta di “capanno” con finestre panoramiche: da lì si
può ammirare questa meraviglia in silenzio, nel pieno rispetto dell’ambiente.

PONTE DI LEGNO
Another town I want to tell you about is Ponte di Legno.
Here too, we are in the province of Brescia, but at a higher altitude, in the heart of the Upper
Camonica Valley, at the foot of the Alps.
Ponte di Legno is a very popular destination in winter, thanks to its beautiful ski slopes.
But it’s not just a winter spot: located just a short distance from the Stelvio National Park, it’s
also perfect for those who love trekking, mountain biking, and alpine nature excursions.
During World War I, the town was completely destroyed by Austrian bombings. What we see
today is the result of a careful reconstruction.
PONTE DI LEGNO
L’altro paese di cui voglio parlarvi è Ponte di Legno.
Anche in questo caso siamo in provincia di Brescia, ma ci troviamo più
in alto, nel cuore dell’Alta Valle Camonica, ai piedi delle Alpi.
Ponte di Legno è una meta amatissima durante l’inverno, grazie alle sue
splendide piste da sci.
Ma non è solo una destinazione invernale: situato a pochi passi dal
Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio, è perfetto anche per chi ama il trekking, la
mountain bike e le escursioni nella natura alpina.
Durante la Prima guerra mondiale, il paese fu completamente distrutto
dai bombardamenti austriaci. Ciò che vediamo oggi è frutto di una
ricostruzione.
The town center of Ponte di Legno is crossed by small mountain streams that
merge to form the Oglio River.
This presence of water has shaped the identity of the village: numerous
wooden bridges connect its banks, and it is most likely from one of these that
the town takes its name.
It is also a charming and atmospheric place, not to be missed if you find
yourself in the area.
Whether for a relaxing walk along the waterways or to enjoy an aperitif in the
square amid the scent of wood and the fresh mountain air, Ponte di Legno
always offers a reason to stop and stay awhile.

Il centro abitato di Ponte di Legno è attraversato da piccoli torrenti di
montagna, che si uniscono dando origine al fiume Oglio.
Proprio questa presenza d’acqua ha plasmato l’identità del paese: numerosi
ponti in legno collegano le sponde del borgo, e con ogni probabilità è proprio
da uno di questi che il paese prende il suo nome.
Anche questo è un luogo suggestivo e ricco di atmosfera, da non perdere se ci
si trova in zona.
Che sia per una passeggiata rilassante lungo i corsi d’acqua, o per godersi un
aperitivo in piazza tra i profumi del legno e l’aria fresca di montagna, Ponte di
Legno regala sempre un motivo per fermarsi.
