Sometimes I move away a little from the community but not so much as not to participate in the proposed initiatives, when I took a walk and read several publications talking about the star appliance of our home, I felt identified with several, both with that equipment that makes life easier in the kitchen and outside it, but in fact for me, the star appliance of my house is my washing machine and today I come to tell you why.
At this moment I am in love with my air fryer oven, it is a great help in the kitchen, in it I prepare meals instantly because it cooks potatoes and chicken in the same time, also as it has the oven function I have also prepared snacks like cookies and cakes, the best thing is that it is electric and I love that, in this country it is so difficult to get domestic gas. Aha, it is fine, it is a marvel, but I lived a long time without it and everything worked fine, so I do not consider it my star appliance, although it is very good to have it, do not misunderstand me.

En ocasiones me alejo un poco de la comunidad pero no tanto como para no participar en las iniciativas propuestas, cuando me di una vuelta y leí varias publicaciones hablando sobre el electrodoméstico estrella de nuestro hogar, me sentí identificada con varias, tanto con aquel equipo que nos hace la vida más fácil dentro de la cocina como fuera de ella, pero en realidad para mí, el electrodoméstico estrella de mi casa es mi lavadora y hoy vengo a contarles porqué.
En este momento estoy enamorada de mi horno freidora de aire, es de gran ayuda en la cocina, en él preparo comidas al instante pues cocina las papas y el pollo en el mismo tiempo, además como tiene la función de horno también he preparado meriendas como galletas y tortas, lo mejor es que es eléctrico y eso me encanta, en este país que es tan difícil conseguir gas doméstico. Ajá, está bien, es una maravilla, pero viví mucho tiempo sin él y todo machaba bien, entonces no lo considero mi electrodoméstico estrella, aunque es muy bueno tenerlo, no me mal entiendan.
When it comes to washing clothes I am afraid of not having a washing machine, clothes are like garbage that multiplies and it gives me everything to think about having to wash by hand. When I was a teenager in my house we split the chores on Saturdays, my sister cleaned, my mom cooked and I washed. My mom had a semi-automatic washing machine commonly called a chaca-chaca, where clothes were scrubbed, taken out and rinsed in different containers with clean water, then squeezed with her hands and spread out. I would spend all morning washing and bending over rinsing the clothes, which must be why I now suffer from lower back pain and it wasn’t until after I moved out that my house was able to buy an automatic washing machine.
When I lived alone I went to the laundromat and took my dry and folded clothes to the apartment, and when I started living with my husband it was the first thing we bought, I bought a kitchen and he bought a refrigerator and a washing machine, that first washing machine was damaged after just four years and that is when we bought this one that we have had for 14 years, it is a Samsung of 13 kilos and I really think that despite the years it is quite well preserved, at least in appearance, I’ll tell you why.
Cuando se trata de lavar ropa me da miedo no tener lavadora, la ropa es como la basura que se multiplica y me da de todo pensar que tenga que lavar a mano. Cuando era adolescente en mi casa nos repartíamos las tareas de los sábados, mi hermana limpiaba, mi mamá cocinaba y yo lavaba. Mi mamá tenía una lavadora semiautomática comúnmente llamadas chaca-chaca, dónde se restregaba la ropa, se sacaba y enjuagada en diferentes recipientes con agua limpia, luego exprimía con las manos y extendía. Pasaba toda la mañana lavando y agachada enjuagando la ropa, debe ser por eso que ahora sufro de dolores en la parte baja de la espalda y no fue sino hasta después que me mudé que en mi casa pudieron comprar una lavadora automática.
Cuando vivía sola iba a la lavandería y me llevaba la ropa seca y doblada para el apartamento, y al empezar a vivir con mi marido fue lo primero que compramos, yo compré cocina y él nevera y lavadora, esa primera lavadora se daño a los escasos cuatro años y fue cuando compramos está que tenemos desde hace 14 años, es una Samsung de 13 kilos y de verdad que creo que a pesar de los años se conserva bastante bien, al menos en apariencia, ya les cuento por qué.
Apparently I put a lot of clothes in it and suddenly the blade broke, I had about five years with it, those were the worst months, I had to wash by hand and I also went to my mother in law to borrow her washing machine, that is very ugly. After spending months looking for the spare part we got it from my husband’s cousin who lives in another state of the country and repairs washing machines, we went to have him fix the old one but among the washing machines that they send him to fix and they never come back for them there was one with the same type of blade that we needed, so we brought it and we did not fix the old one, the repair was more expensive.
Since then I have been more careful about the amount of clothes I put in the wash. At the moment it has a fault and it seems to lose power to scrub the clothes, which I suspect may be the belt, I don’t think it’s really a big deal. Hopefully now on vacation for my husband to check it out 🙏🏻.
Al parecer le metía mucha ropa y de repente el aspa se partió, tenía como cinco años con ella, fueron los peores meses, tuve que lavar a mano y también iba para donde la suegra para que me prestará su lavadora, eso es muy feo. Después de pasar meses buscando el repuesto la conseguimos dónde un primo de mi esposo que vive en otro estado del pais y arregla lavadoras, fuimos para que él arreglara la vieja pero entre las lavadoras que le mandan a arreglar y nunca vuelven por ellas había una con el mismo tipo de aspa que nosotros necesitábamos, así que nos la trajimos y no arreglamos la vieja, el arreglo nos salía más costoso.
Desde aquel momentos tengo más cuidado de la cantidad de ropa que meto a lavar. En este momento tiene una falla y es que parece que perdiera fuerza para restregar la ropa, lo que sospecho puede ser la correa, no creo que sea gran cosa en realidad. Esperemos ahora en vacaciones para que mi esposo la revise.
Really, when it starts to fail, I’m afraid that one day it will stop working and I’ll be left washing by hand, and now my mother-in-law can’t lend me hers because she doesn’t have one. I think I’d start crying 😭 😭 😭 because I don’t even have a wash basin. I feel like the meme I’ve shared many times on Facebook that goes something like this: Aren’t you afraid of being criticized? – No, I’m afraid that the washing machine will break and I’ll have to wash by hand. That’s how I feel right now, I think it’s the meme I’ve shared the most, because it’s totally true. For me, having a washing machine is not a luxury, it’s a necessity and that’s why it’s my star appliance.

De verdad que cuando empieza con la falla me entra el temor de que un día deje de funcionar y me quedé lavando a mano, y ahora mi suegra no me puede prestar la de ella porque no tiene. Yo creo que me pondría a llorar 😭 😭 porque ni batea para lavar tengo. Me siento como el meme que he compartido muchas veces en Facebook que dice algo así: ¿No te da miedo que te critiquen? – No, miedo me da que la lavadora se dañe y me toque lavar a mano. Tal cual así me siento en este momento, creo que es el meme que más he compartido, porque es totalmente cierto. Para mí tener una lavadora no es un lujo, es una necesidad y por eso es mi electrodoméstico estrella.
