Hello everyone
It's a beautiful Tuesday, I bring you all greetings from this part of the world. It's the world children's day and I'm using this opportunity to wish all the children happy children's day, have fun and be safe out there. I'm glad to be here today in this great community @diyhub with our may contest #kitchendiy it is my pleasure to share with you today the making of a double hand pot holder I made for kitchen use from pieces of left over fabrics.
The days are fast running and before I could realize it, it's few days to go on the monthly contest, i just have to participate in it as I have to make this for my kitchen use as well. I have made a single hand pot holder which was useful but I realized I needed this double hand as well so that I can use and if I do desire.
Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process
I cut out a long piece of 28 x 6" of fabric with interfacing ironed on it
It was placed on a lining to cut out same shape
I cut out 2 pieces of 8 x 6" from the main fabric as well and ironed interfacing on both pieces
Both pieces were used to cut out lining of same shape
The lining was placed on the main fabric and sewn together with the right side facing up
With my bias tape, I pipe the edge just as seen below and the same was repeated on the other piece as well
I placed the two pieces at the end of both sides of the lining and it was sewn together
Then the main fabric was placed on the lining right side to right side and it was sewn together leaving an opening where it can be turned inside out.
I thought of making a small handle to it so as to hang it in the wall after use and I cut out a small piece which was folded and sewn together on both sides, it was cut into two and I fix each on but sides at the edges
It was turned inside out through the opening and was top stitched round
This is the final outcome of my double hand pot holder I made for my kitchen from pieces of left over fabric.
It can either be hang when folded in two or on one side straight down.
I hope you like the simplicity, useful and beautiful outcome of it.
