Hello everyone
I bring you all greetings from this part of the world in my sewing room, I hope you are doing great just as I am having a nice time with my sewing project. It's a beautiful day out here with a friendly weather giving us a cool and gentle breeze. It's with great pleasure that I will be sharing with you today the cutting and sewing process of a native trouser with an elastic waist band for my sister's neighbor's child who is just 2 years old
A week ago, I made a native outfit for my little nephew who is 2years old with same fabric I used to make outfit for his sister to make a kind of family outfit and when my sister's neighbor saw it, she loved the simplicity and how well and neat it was sewn, so she promised to give me a fabric for me to make an outfit for her son as well just the way I made for my nephew.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process
For the trousers, I have the waist circumference measurement to be 24" the full length to be 18" the ankle to be 8" I folded the fabric and marked the measurements on the fabric with additional 2" to the waist measurement, for the band and hem of the trousers, on the crouch, I measured 7" and curve it to the 2" and it was connected to the ankle measurement at the hem and was cut out
The front was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back with additional 2" on the side of the trousers
I picked one front and one back part which was taken to the sewing machine and it was sewn together by the side with 0.5" seam allowance
The hem was folded in with 2" and it was sewn together to the crouch, the same was repeated on the other leg as well
I placed the two legs of the trousers together front to front and back to back and it was sewn together
On the waist line, I folded in 2" and made a little opening where the elastic band will be inserted
I measured 18 x 1" elastic band and it was inserted in the waist line of the trousers.
This is the final outcome and I hope you like it as simple as it is.
My sister has been so supportive of my work and has been telling people about my work so as to bring more clients to me, I hope she will be so proud of outcome of this trousers I made for her neighbor's son. The remaining fabric will be used to make a top to the trousers in my next post, stay connected.
