As with most of us here dabbling in the weird world of Splinterlands, I have been anxiously awaiting the integration of Lands into the mix. The vision of what Lands hope to be, is actually what finally got me to take a serious look at the project after giving it very little attention for its first couple years of inception. Well, that and some gentle nudging from my buddy Yaba. 🙏
As a comic/toy/gaming shop owner, I’ve been selling collectibles for decades now…including TCG’s such as Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, and Yu-GI-Oh. Seeing how rabid that fanbase is when it comes to collecting new cards throughout the years made me want to be a part of that equation. So the idea of ultimately being a card factory for the new Items & Spells cards in our ecosystem really has me excited.
While I am still haunted by the Ghost of Dumbass Past for not being here during the initial Land sale, I was still able to make some moves and set myself up nicely with 2 Tracts…thanks in part to blogging here on Hive. Now it looks as though I’ll be Surveying those Tracts this week sometime as the team releases the big Survering update in just a few hours from now.
I have to wait a few more days to do the grand reveal as I need a little more DEC-B for the start up packages. I’m going for all 3 on each of my 200 plus plots which is…well…a lot. As much as I absolutely hate touching any of my staked SPS or powered up Hive, I am sadly touching both once again in order to be better prepared for my Land. The last time I unstaked SPS, it was to purchase 2400 Riftwatchers packs. The last time I powered down Hive, it was to purchase a Tract. Luckily, I only need a tiny portion of their help overall to hit my goal, so it’s not that terrible.
As for the DEC I’ll need for staking and the Monster cards to work the lands??? I still have a long ways to go, but I figure I have a few months to work on that before Land 1.5 is in action. What’s crazy though is I’ve been preparing. For nearly 2 years now…and I’m still nowhere near ready. That’s a bit daunting and deflating, but I guess it makes me feel a bit better seeing others discuss being in the same boat. Misery loves company I guess.
Regardless, I’m not sure I’m mentally ready for this Surveying reveal. Years of prep work, lots of $$$, and dreaming of a killer pull or two has me sweating a bit. Im guaranteed 2 Keeps, which is lovely…although I’m praying for a Castle. 🤞
Im also hoping I didn’t use up all my luck revealing Tracts on the Mavs test server. As Farpetrad and team have been gearing up for this big day and fixing little bugs thanks to the eager beaver Mavs, I was able to Survey a bit to see how it all works, before the real deal is in action. Last night as I went through the process of Surveying, I had 2 delicious pulls that would be a dream come true to pull.
First off, my Mythic ended up being a Castle! While I know it’s only on the test server and is going to be wiped completely, the rush of seeing that bad boy shake and flip to reveal that my Keep is actually a Castle was truly exhilarating. I’d gladly “settle” for some Bog Castle IRL.
But even more impressive, was the reveal of one of my 2 Legendary Plots pulled from that Tract reveal. For I had pulled the other Holy Grail of Land Plots…the Unicorn known as the Legendary Occupied. THIS, is going to be a rarity to see…and could be some of the most expensive and elusive plots in the game.
But alas…this is just the test server and if my “luck” has any say in how my actual pulls go…this will be the closest I’ll ever be to obtaining those mofo’s. But it’s fun to dream and wonder…
