A lot of times, we think that reading the Bible, praying regularly, or going to church every Sunday is all God wants from us. But when you really think about it, what pleases God the most isn’t just those things it’s when we live out what we learn from Him every single day.
You can read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, but if you’re not practicing what it says, then what’s the point? God isn’t looking for people who only know His word He’s looking for people who live it. That’s what really touches His heart.
Let’s be honest: it’s easy to set a time to read the Bible morning, night, during lunch breaks. But reading alone doesn’t mean much if we’re not applying it. It’s like reading a recipe and never cooking the food. God is more pleased when we show love, kindness, patience, and honesty just like Jesus did than when we just read about those things and never actually do them.
James 1:22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
This verse is clear God wants action, not just listening. He wants us to live His word out in our daily lives.
Jesus also said in John 8:31, “If you continue in my word, then you are truly my disciples.”
That means we don’t just visit the Bible like it’s a guest we only see on Sundays we stay in it, live by it, and let it shape how we treat others, how we speak, how we forgive, and how we carry ourselves.
So, what truly pleases God? It’s not how many Bible verses you can quote, or how long you pray. It’s when your actions show His love, when your life reflects His truth, and when you live each day as someone who actually believes and follows Him.
That’s the kind of life that makes God smile.
