Hace diez meses me convertà en mamá. Desde ese entonces he experimentado un amor profundo y genuino. La maternidad se ha encargado de mostrarme la fuerza que hay en mi. Nunca antes me habÃa sentido tan agotada y fuerte al mismo tiempo. Es algo que no logro explicar. Solo se que el amor todo lo puede lograr.
Ten months ago I became a mother. Since then I have experienced deep and genuine love. Motherhood has been responsible for showing me the strength that is in me. I have never felt so exhausted and strong at the same time before. It's something I can't explain. I only know that love can achieve everything

Mi bebé nació el 11 de junio del año 2023. Era un domingo frÃo y lluvioso. Cuando desperté estaba perdiendo lÃquido, asà que me comunique con mi doctora y ella me indica que debo ir a la maternidad. Al llegar allà me ingresaron de inmediato. Hicieron los chequeos necesarios y me pasaron a la sala de parto. Estaba tan asustada y nerviosa que mi mente no lograba procesar todo lo que estaba pasando. Luego de un rato mi doctora amablemente me dijo: Heleny hoy nace Helen. En ese momento mis pensamientos tomaron una sola dirección: hoy me convertiré en madre. Hoy es el dÃa que tanto habÃa esperado. Hoy mi vida se torna de color rosa.
My baby was born on June 11, 2023. It was a cold and rainy Sunday. When I woke up she was losing fluid, so I contacted my doctor and she told me that I should go to the maternity ward. When I got there they admitted me immediately. They did the necessary checks and took me to the delivery room. I was so scared and nervous that my mind couldn't process everything that was happening. After a while, my doctor kindly told me: Heleny, Helen is born today. At that moment my thoughts took one direction: today I will become a mother. Today is the day I had been waiting for so long. Today my life turns pink.
Al dÃa siguiente regresé a casa con mi bebé. No puedo describir lo que sentÃ. Solo se que mi corazón estaba lleno de felicidad y gratitud. Me sentÃa horrible fÃsicamente. No podÃa caminar bien, me dolÃa TODO. Pero, estaba tan feliz que querÃa compartir mi felicidad. No querÃa estar sola como muchas madres primerizas quieren. Yo querÃa hablar con todos. Sin embargo, el dolor fÃsico era tan grande que no querÃa levantarme de la cama. Mi bebé pesó 4,100 gr cuando nació y eso ocasionó un desgarre que duró en sanar casi seis meses.
The next day I returned home with my baby. I can't describe what I felt. I only know that my heart was full of happiness and gratitude. I felt horrible physically. I couldn't walk well, EVERYTHING hurt. But, I was so happy that I wanted to share my happiness. I didn't want to be alone like many new mothers want. I wanted to talk to everyone. However, the physical pain was so great that I didn't want to get out of bed. My baby weighed 4,100 grams when she was born and that caused a tear that took almost six months to heal.
Durante los primeros tres meses, dormÃa como tres o cuatro horas diarias. Sobrevivà gracias a mi mamá que se quedó con nosotros durante esos primeros meses. Sin embargo, sentÃamos que igual estábamos al borde la locura, asà que mi esposo decidió contratar a alguien para que se encargara de las cosas del hogar .
For the first three months, I slept about three or four hours a day. I survived thanks to my mother who stayed with us during those first months. However, we felt like we were on the verge of insanity, so my husband decided to hire someone to take care of household things.
Al cumplir cuatro meses Helen empezó a dormir mejor, y desde allà muchas cosas fueron mejorando y poco a poco pude volver a la rutina. Yo di lactancia materna exclusiva hasta los cinco meses y medio. Empezar la alimentación complementaria fue un desafÃo, porque ella como la mayorÃa de los bebés rechazaba la comida. Pero no me rendÃ, le compramos su silla de comer y todos los dÃas la sentaba a comer y la dejaba experimentar con la comida, hasta que poco a poco fue aprendiendo y adaptándose a esta nueva etapa. Ya come sólido, sabe tomar agua en vasito y hacer desastre con la comida. 😂 Logré que le gustara el brócoli y eso me tiene muy contenta.
When Helen was four months old, she began to sleep better, and from then on many things improved and little by little I was able to return to the routine. I breastfed exclusively until five and a half months. Starting complementary feeding was a challenge, because she, like most babies, refused food. But I didn't give up, we bought her high chair and every day she sat her down to eat and let her experiment with food, until little by little she learned and adapted to this new stage. She already eats solid foods, she knows how to drink water from a glass and make a mess with her food. 😂 I got him to like broccoli and that makes me very happy.
En la actualidad Helen ya sabe gatear y da pasitos sostenida del borde del corral o de los muebles cuando la coloco en el piso. Sabe imitar los gestos que le hacemos y si le preguntas dónde están los pajaritos, ella señala hacÃa el cielo. Está creciendo muy rápido y eso me alegra y asusta al mismo tiempo. He sido tan feliz desde que ella está. Y sentirme asÃ, no significa que esté romantizando la maternidad, porque la realidad es que es muy agotador, es difÃcil, desafiante. Pero, también es hermoso, es lo mejor que me ha pasado en la vida.💗
Nowadays Helen already knows how to crawl and takes little steps holding the edge of the pen or the furniture when I place her on the floor. She knows how to imitate the gestures we make and if you ask her where her little birds are, she points to the sky. She is growing very fast and that makes me happy and scares me at the same time. I've been so happy since she's been here. And feeling this way does not mean that she is romanticizing motherhood, because the reality is that it is very exhausting, it is difficult, it is challenging. But, it's also beautiful, it's the best thing that has happened to me in my life.💗
