Not every important moment comes with a loud noise or celebration. Some simply come quietly, and leave something more substantial that stays. True impact often does not need to announce itself, it simply arrives, changes lives and becomes a reference point; the give us moments we can always point to say , “That’s when everything changed. For us, those moments will always be the launch of Hive borehole project.
The meaningful project was never set out as a charitable project, but one in response to a need, responding and making a long lasting impact. In many remote communities in Ghana, something as basic as water is more than a daily challenge. Women and children travel great distances to fetch water, mostly from unsafe sources.
Not only is it tiring, it’s unsafe. When the boreholes were launched, we saw a great difference. Thanks to Hive, today, several villages have access to clean, safe water for the first time. This change for these community residents was never simpky about water provision but beyond, it helped promoted people's health, time and their general wellbeing improved. We are glad that many residents in communities with the borehole no longer have to go through a daily struggle for potable water.
The making project was never about making donation but about empowering lives. It was about identifying a need and responding to it with the power of technology, showing how tech tools can be effectively be utlised to support lives. This was why it felt different, it was not loud, but it was deep. It stayed. And that’s what matters, the changes that stays with people. Through this project we have shown what is possible through decentralised technology.
The water boreholes are clear example of what happens when technology and humanity meet in a meaningful way. Hive is a decentralised blockchain platform, but the pathways made available, through a decentralized fund and support have provided opportunity for something to happen that has directly changed lives on the ground. This is not just innovation; this is transformation.
Going forward, one of the things we are most desirous for is visibility for this work. It is important work. We want everyone to understand the story behind it and not because we seek be popular with it, but more because the story can resonates with lots of peolle and would create further opportunities for Hive and for peolle that actaully need help.
To day, whenever the power of Hive or community-led development is discussed, we refer to this project. It has become an example we can always use talk about the potetntial of Hive and this is because they are real, they are still working, still helping, still changing lives.
This is our example,our moment; a moment that never will last many more years. And for that reason, we are not done. As the year ends we are ready to do more.
