If there is something I love observing so much most especially when I stepped out of my apartment, it is how my surroundings looks. I always love to look around the public places because they go a long way to determine the social and economic life of people that lives around there. In my street Kabba, kogi state, we have a lot of public spaces. When I am talking about public spaces, I mean places like the market, like the bus stops and other parks.
One of the things that I have actually noticed is the fact that a lot of places in my street, I am talking about the public places, they have been left undeveloped for many years. Some 5,8,15 years old. It has reduced the rate at which they look so appealing and most of the time, I wish I could just make some changes to it so that at least I can increase their appearance and functionality in those public places.
If there is something I will first of all work up, I will say it is the state of cleanliness of those public places starting from the market place. The market place in my street is so poor when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation. Sometimes I usually wonder why is it like that and why does it seems no one is developing it. Sometimes I will see the ground been littered with dirt and there is lack of dustbin around those areas. If I definitely have the chance to change something, it will definitely start from the sense of cleanliness of it.
The second one I will work upon is the security sense and safety. Well if I should say, in areas like the market place, it is secured enough but there are other public places that I wish can be worked upon. Examples like the parks. I have heard scenarios of people losing their valuable items like phones or money at the parks and even at the marketplace. This is something I will try to work against and that will be possible by first providing additional security sense to it. If possible, I will bring the concept of CCTV camera to parks and even marketplace so security measures can be put in place.
If you have been to my market place in my streets, the first thing you will be welcome with us is the old appearance form. In fact I will say it has been decades that the appearance of the Marketplace and even some bustop have been worked upon. I will also try to modernized the marketplace and make sure that I pay attention to it. Generally people did not always visit recreational parks in my street like that because it is not really developed but people visit the marketplace much more and the parks. I will try to work on the appearance to look more modernized than before.
If I can actually put all these things in place in most of the public places in my area, I am so sure there will definitely be a positive change. It will help to encourage Community participation and not only that but even attract tourist to my street. This will even increase the development rate of my street. How I wish I can have the opportunity to discuss this with the government of my state because it looks like presently, they are not doing anything about it actually which I am really pained about it massively.
