Starknet announced airdrop eligible criteria for its token $STRK. The airdrop criteria was tough as it eliminated loyal users who were with protocol since the testnet days. Starknet is under heavy criticism since morning due to the shitty criteria choosed to allocate $STRK.
According to Starknet ,users having 0.005 ETH are considered eligible for the $STRK airdrop. Someone who interacted with multiple contracts and paid a huge fees is not eligible if not holding 0.005 ETH, while if someone holds 0.005 ETH and has not activity is eligible for the airdrop.
This is the most stupid criteria implemented by the starknet team. People are criticising Starknet team for this behaviour. This is clearly an upset thing if you held thousands in liquidity and do not qualify for the airdrop.
People were very happy in the morning as they were expecting that Starknet airdrop is gonna make the valentine day more good but it all turned to sorrow when the fuckin criteria came to the public.
What i have observed is that Starknet team farmed to its loyal users and filled their own pockets from airdrop. They took months to just decide that how they can make airdrop limited to few people. Starknet team just made happy to developers.
Only a few people were eligible for the airdrop While majority of the people didnt get any allocation. The people who are eligible can claim their tokens on 20 February.
People are hating starknet as they were not honest in airdrop allocation. In frustration to this people are moving their funds from Starknet to ZKsync as they believe that starknet is not worth anymore to keep funds with them.
Right now everyone is complaining about Starknet eligibility criteria as it was dumbest. You can check on X , its trending with hashtag starknetscam. People are frustrated.
Bridges have witness heavy outflow from starknet to other chains following the starknet airdrop eligibility criteria announced. Starknet have lost a big userbase in prior to its token launch date.
This will be a red signal for the whole starknet ecosystem. Its not about an individual, from a simple user to an influencer , everyone is calling it scam. This will effect the starknet ecosystem in the long run. We will see how starknet team handles this.
Other projects like Zksync and layerzero airdrops are also expected to happen in Q2. Hopefully they will be more careful in deciding the criteria for airdrop eligibility.
These projects should learn that a happy community is good for the strength of a project. Im not saying that they should reward everyone, atleast they should reward the ones who put effort in expanding the project and grow it.
Make the distribution transparent so that people dont feel rekt. Just do not fill their own pockets. I know that it is not possible to make happy everyone but the criteria should be sensible and not a shit like Starknet did.
