Children are always a blessing from God. I often say that being a father is a gift and, despite being one of the most incredible experiences in the world, it is both challenging and pleasurable. Being able to teach your child all the ways he or she will need to learn to survive in this real world and also through your past experiences, even though they were good and bad things that you had in your childhood, it is important to educate your child to avoid going through some of the things that you went through.
I have 3 children, two boys and a daughter, the youngest. For many years, my world was all blue and I knew how to raise my two boys. But after a while, my daughter came along to bring more happiness to our family. What I can say is that it is something completely different from the way we raise boys and girls. I am having this experience in practice, even though I already knew it in theory.
It's interesting how the way we discipline our children has changed in the last 30 years. I believe that the way we educate our children always changes over time, because our parents undoubtedly had a way of disciplining them and today I try to teach my children the best ways to educate them with what I learned from my parents and also with what I have learned over the years.
In addition, since they were little, I always tell my children that the more they grow, the more responsibility they have. I always try to find a solution through dialogue to resolve any type of indiscipline on their part. But I'm still from the generation that when things get too much and I've exhausted all the ways to talk to them, the slipper sings. For those who don't understand, I use the belt to educate them.
Fortunately, I didn't have to use this last alternative to discipline them much. After all, I don't like to hit my children as a way of punishing them. But as I said, I use it as my last resort and when I see that the dialogue isn't working, then I have to be more convincing so that they understand my message.
My oldest son is already 14 years old and he has always set a great example for me of being a polite person. My youngest son, on the other hand, gives me more work, but we know that each child has his or her own type of temperament. My daughter, in fact, is completely different from my two children. It's incredible how, from a very young age, she can already understand some things that my children didn't understand before.
There was one time when I realized that my daughter sometimes learns some things not from what I say, but from her own experience. I have a Surinam cherry tree in my backyard. The berries were still green and not ready to eat. No matter how much I explained to her that they had to be red to eat, she managed to trick me by saying Moon and I looked up, even though it was daytime, I could still see her. But when I looked back at my daughter, she picked up a green pitanga.
She bit into it, and realized from her own experience that the green fruit was not ready to eat. I even thought it was funny, even though she didn't obey me. I know that for her age, even though she may be well developed, disobedience is still quite common. But the important thing in this learning process is that she will no longer eat that green fruit.
Because of the technology around us, screens are a big challenge for us parents in educating our children. I feel this and I know that anything that is excessive is not good. I have even explained this to my children. But I know that there are parents who, due to the excessive use and even addiction of screens, are having problems disciplining their children. I once saw a case where a teenager killed his sister, his mother and almost killed his father, but left him paraplegic.
Why this barbarity? Because his parents had forbidden him from playing on his smartphone. Unfortunately, this type of thing is happening more and more, and given the difficulty parents are having in raising their children, this type of situation could become commonplace. I have talked a lot about this with my children and they know that family is something sacred and that nothing can be more important. A smartphone will not satisfy their lives forever.
I know that there are several challenges in raising a child. Especially when you have more than one at home. But we parents should always find the best way to discipline them, even if we may make mistakes, because we know that mistakes also help us learn, and perhaps this is also a way of facing life as it is.

Filhos são sempre uma benção de Deus. Costumo dizer que ser pai é uma dádiva e apesar de ser uma das experiências mais incríveis no mundo, é algo tanto desafiador quanto prazeroso. Poder ensinar seu filho todos os caminhos que ele irá precisar aprender para sobreviver nesse mundo real e também através de suas experiências do passado, mesmo sendo coisas boas e ruins que você teve em sua infância, é importante educar seu filho a evitar de passar por algumas coisas que você passou.
Tenho 3 filhos sendo dois meninos e uma filha, a mais caçula. Meu mundo por muitos anos foi apenas azul e sabia como educar meus dois meninos. Mas depois de um tempo, surgiu a minha filha para trazer mais felicidade para nossa família. O que posso dizer é que é algo completamente diferente da forma como educamos os meninos e meninas. Estou tendo essa experiência na prática mesmo que na teoria eu já sabia disso.
É curioso como a forma de disciplinar seu filho mudou nesses últimos 30 anos. Acredito que sempre a forma de educar nossos filhos muda com o passar do tempo, pois sem dúvidas nossos pais tiveram uma forma de disciplina e hoje com meus filhos eu busco passar sempre as melhores formas de educar eles com o que aprendi com meus pais e também com o que aprendi ao longo dos anos.
Além disso, desde pequenos, eu sempre digo aos meus filhos que cada vez mais que eles crescem, mais responsabilidade eles possuem. Procuro sempre buscar através do diálogo ser uma solução para resolver qualquer tipo de indisciplina deles. Mas ainda sou da geração que quando as coisas não tem mais saída e já esgotei todas as formas de conversar com eles, a chinela canta. Para quem não entendeu, uso o cinto para educa-los.
Felizmente, não precisei usar muito essa minha última alternativa para disciplinar eles. Até porque não gosto de bater em meus filhos como forma de castigar. Mas como eu disse, uso isso como meu último recurso e quando vejo que o diálogo não está funcionando, então tenho que ser mais convincente para eles entenderem minha mensagem.
Meu filho mais velho já está com 14 anos e ele sempre me deu um ótimo exemplo de ser uma pessoa educada. Já o meu filho mais novo, ele me dá mais trabalho, mas sabemos que cada filho tem o seu tipo de temperamento. Minha filha inclusive, ela é totalmente diferente dos meus dois filhos. É incrível como ela desde muito nova já consegue entender algumas coisas que antes, meus filhos não entendiam.
Teve uma vez, em que eu já percebi que minha filha às vezes aprende algumas coisas não pelo o que digo, mas por experiência própria. Eu tenho uma pitangueira no meu quintal. As frutinhas ainda estavam verdes e não estavam no ponto certo de comer. Por mais que eu explicasse pra ela que para comer, deveriam estar vermelhas, ela conseguiu me enganar dizendo Lua e eu olhei pra cima, apesar de que estava de dia, ainda dava pra vê-la. Mas quando olhei de volta pra minha filha, ela pegou uma pitanga verde.
Ela mordeu, percebeu por experiência própria que a fruta verde não está pronta para comer. Eu até achei engraçado, mesmo que ela não tenha me obedecido. Sei que para a idade dele, por mais que ela possa ser bem desenvolvida, a desobediência ainda é algo bem comum. Mas o importante nesse aprendizado é que ela não irá mais comer aquela frutinha verde.
Por conta das tecnologias em nossa volta, as telas estão sendo um grande desafio para nós pais para educar nossos filhos. Eu sinto isso e sei que tudo que é excessivo, não é bom. Já até expliquei para meus filhos sobre isso. Mas sei que tem pais que por conta do grande uso e até vício nas telas, famílias estão tendo problemas em disciplinar seus filhos. Uma vez vi um caso que um adolescente matou sua irmã, sua mãe e quase matou seu pai, mas deixou ele paraplégico.
Porquê dessa barbárie? Porque seus pais haviam proibido dele jogar em seu smartphone. Infelizmente esse tipo de coisa cada vez mais está acontecendo e do jeito que os pais estão tendo essa dificuldade em educar seus filhos, esse tipo de situação pode virar algo comum. Já conversei muito sobre isso com meus filhos e eles sabem que a família é algo sagrado e que nada pode ser mais importante. Um smartphone não vai satisfazer a vida deles para sempre.
Sei que existem diversos desafios para educar um filho. Principalmente quando se tem mais de um em casa. Mas nós pais devemos sempre buscar a melhor forma disciplinar eles, mesmo que possamos errar, pois sabemos que os erros também nos fazem aprender e talvez isso seja também uma forma de encararmos a vida como ela é.
